Actor Tristan Wilds has stepped into the musical arena under the moniker Mack Wilds with New York: A Love Story. The flagship artist of Salaam Remi’s Re Mi Fa/Louder Than Life imprint, Wilds is an R&B crooner with a Hip-Hop twist, both styles heavily displayed on this project. He flourishes on the more uptempo jams, though the subject matter is nothing new, and falls short on the slow burners, as his vocal presence is serviceable at best. Still a work in progress, A Love Story shows Wilds is more than a gimmick, but more of a budding artist with potential if a little depth and vocal improvement are added to the equation.

Songs to Play: “Wild Things,” “Own It,” “Keeping It Real”

Songs to Skip: “You Can Cry To Me,” “Remember The Time,” “Don’t Turn Me Down”
