Jeremy Lin’s Changed, Bro

By J. Tinsley / 08.15.13

A lot can be said about Jeremy Lin. Like how “Linsanity” was one of the more overhyped, media-driven spectacles in the post-Decision world. Or how the combination of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Mario Chalmers took his soul on national TV in 2012. Or how he opted not to play in the Knicks’ opening round playoff series versus Miami because he was only 85% healthy.* Lin’s no different from any other guy employed by the NBA in a sense. He’s going to come off like an entitled asshole in a social media world full of people acting the same.

Yet, despite the knocks against him, he’s at least managed to keep a sense of humor about everything. “You’ve Changed, Bro” features J-Lin and some homies in a parody of how Houston’s starting point guard has allowed the fame and fortune to get to his head and forget those he started from the bottom with.

The clip, in all honesty, is well-done. Does it come off awkward at times? Sure, but so what? If you can’t look back on the years when you were 24 or 25 and say to your friends, “Yeah, that was stupid,” please accept these sincerest condolences. Try living life a tad. Anywho, with the Rockets now a legit title contender next season, Lin’s role on the team becomes doubly more important – like making sure guys like James Harden, Dwight Howard and Chandler Parsons get the ball when and where they need it and helping improve team defense.

It’s good to confirm who’ll be the Chaplin of Comedy for the Rockets though. Dwight must be ecstatic all the pressure is taken off him.

* – That was double-edged sword. On one hand, we all assumed it was fear in his eyes. On the other, he was protecting an investment on his future. Or, as my buddy who is a Knicks fan that simultaneously wanted Lin out of New York said, “Who gives a sh*t, it wasn’t like we were going to come back from 3-1 and win that series anyway.”
