Whether we want to cop to them or not, everyone’s got “Issues,” and throughout Connor Evans’ latest video we learn some of his aren’t that different from ours:
“The third verse features family footage my mom recently found of my uncle (the subject of the third verse), her, and my grandfather. I want people to see my uncle how she knew him before he let his issue, heroin abuse, get the best of him. We all know that laughing, smiling, beautiful, innocent child. We all are, at one point, that laughing, smiling, beautiful, innocent child. By owning up to our issues and opening up a dialogue about them, I think we can keep that child alive within us.”
By interweaving personal tragedies with old family footage against an anthem-sounding backdrop, this track engages viewers with an emotion bound to make you believe the budding emcee is not only someone to relate to, but something more important: engaging.
