2 Chainz had a way rougher night than the rest of us. The rapper and his entourage were reportedly involved in an eight-hour standoff with police before being thrown in the clink.
Eight hours, you say? Yes, apparently so. See, Chainz and 10 associates were traveling via tour bus after performing at Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Energy Center for the “America’s Most Wanted” tour. Their vehicle was pulled over for a busted taillight. When police approached the vehicle, they reportedly found evidence of drug usage and proceeded to take the bus driver into custody. The catch was the bus driver got off he locked the bus, preventing officers from boarding and insisting they obtain a warrant first. From there, the standoff began.
“The decision was made to tow the bus to our police training facility and obtain a warrant,” Oklahoma City Police Department Sergeant Jennifer Wardlow told Radio.com. “It was about 8 a.m. Oklahoma time when they were able to get a warrant, and it was at that time that all the people who were on the bus came off.”
The rapper and all individuals on the bus were charged with Obstruction of a Public Officer. Police also confirm that narcotics were found on the vehicle and charges could be filed at a later date. According to TMZ, 2 Chainz was released from jail on Thursday afternoon, flipping everyone off upon exit and taking a moment to promote his album.
