First-Week Sales Projections Say Wale’s ‘The Gifted’ Will Be The Number #1 Album In The Country Next Week

By Word / 06.27.13

Rappers may hate him but it looks like Wale might be getting the last laugh if sales projections for The Gifted holds up.

According to Billboard, based on first-day sales, Wale’s The Gifted is on pace to sell 150,000 copies its first week, enough records to push the DC MC’s album to #1 on the Billboard 200 chart next week. The projected sales totals also would indicate Kanye’s Yeezus is going to suffer one hell of a second-week drop-off.

If the projections hold up, 150,000 will be a slight dip from the 164,000 Ambition sold its first week, but let’s not forget that this is a rapper everyone left for dead when Attention Deficit dropped in 2009 and sold a embarrassing 28,000 copies its first week. Anything above that is a win for rap’s most hated and the untouchable Maybach empire.
