The Internet was made for moments like these.

Like terms papers we all wrote in high school, college or grad school, the final version of a song that’s handed in is usually never the first draft. What we’ve come to know about Snoop’s “Ain’t No Fun” is that it went on to become a catalog defining record; one which never lost its luster based around the fact of who was involved and the time period it represents. But thanks to the long arm of Al Gore’s world wide web, what we have here is the original version featuring Kurupt, Warren G and the late Nate Dogg.

Here’s the backstory. DâM-FunK purchased the record 20 years ago at L.A.’s famed Slauson Swap Meet. This was the version which touched down on the streets long before the final version appeared on Doggystyle. There’s no better description, folks. This is priceless material. And maybe I’m overreacting, but so what? If there’s a zip file floating around with all OG recordings of Snoop’s classic debut, be a friend and shoot that my way.

Seriously, as a Hip-Hop fan, if this gift from the OG rap gawds fails to produce a smile, just cut the computer off for the rest of the day.
