Luis Suarez Hit With 10-Game Ban For Biting Opponent

Luis Suarez, arguably the most-hated man outside Merseyside, has received his ban from the Football Association for chowing on Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic’s arm as if it were a half-slab at Montgomery Inn. That suspension? Ten games.

Here’s what the FA’s independent regulatory commission had to say about its decision:

“A three-person independent regulatory commission today upheld the FA’s claim that a suspension of three matches was clearly insufficient and the player will serve a further seven first-team matches in addition to the standard three.

“The suspension begins with immediate effect.”

This isn’t the first time that Suarez has been suspended for biting. The Uruguayan international received a seven-match ban while playing for PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands in 2010. Also of note is Suarez’s eight-match ban last year when he reportedly racially abused Manchester United defender Patrice Evra. So the man probably knows how to bide his time when he’s posted up in the time-out corner.

Liverpool, not surprisingly, is “shocked” at the FA’s decision. However, they do have until Friday to appeal; although, their contention doesn’t appear promising, what with the above photo and all.
