The story of Sherane didn’t end on Kendrick’s good kid, m.A.A.d city. Instead, Hip-Hop’s newest fictional bombshell reappears, this time on the arm and nerves of Terrace Martin.* The “Something Else” short film differs from the status quo of videos nowadays, opting for – get this – an actual plot and storyline.
Despite not rapping, Ab-Soul has a reoccurring role as the bartender while Problem picks up on game from the jump noticing Sherane isn’t worth the investment of a relationship. Martin strings together an array of applicable verses helping support a strong and infectious hook from Problem. The video is indeed worth a watch, all near-nine minutes and counting off the strength the story is intriguing regardless if the ending revealed itself very early on.
Not for nothing, however, Sherane may not be the one to take home to mom. She’s still thicker than a phone book though.
* – Maybe I’m looking way too far into this, but I think it’s dope as hell the story of Sherane crosses over to another artist, more specifically Terrace, given his role in good Kid. It just adds more depth to the story and another reason to revisit GKMC.
