Joe Johnson’s Crazy Clutch Shots Push Nets Past Bucks in OT, 113-111

By S.Cadet / 02.20.13

There’s something obviously wrong with Joe Johnson. See, Johnson will have games where he’ll stink it up with tons of good looks at the basket. Then there’s nights where he blacks out from the perimeter or bails the Nets out with killer buckets. We thankfully saw the latter, better Joe as his game-tying to game winning antics allowed the Nets to prevail against Milwaukee for the first time in nearly four years.

Joe Johnson’s first buzzer beater bomb came in utter desperation as the Nets needed one from downtown to force extra minutes. Then in OT, following some key stops, the Nets went with an Iso-Joe play to close out the night. Joe made good on the call by creating just enough space against Luc Mbah a Moute to seal the game winning jumper.

Now, after seeing both pivotal shots, which one is more impressive? My vote’s leaning on the latter since it won the game and all. Yet the game winner doesn’t happen without the long range dagger: bringing us back to square one. So yeah, let me get back to you on that one.

Anyway, his similarly huge shots against the Pistons, Wizards, Knicks and Pacers this season prove late-game Joe is head and shoulders above average Joe. Therefore, I’ll need the Nets to trick Joe into thinking every play is a last-ditch endeavor. Call a hypnotist, guidance counselor, Steve Harvey, whoever; just find a way for him to score like this all the time.
