100-Word Review: Wu-Block’s Self-Titled Album

By David D. / 01.16.13

A Wu-Tang Clan/LOX collaboration was every fanboy’s fantasy in the ’90s. But in 2013, the album is an under-the-radar outing that shows Ghostface is still an elite MC even when he’s lost a step and Sheek Louch stays a few steps behind. When Rae and Styles join the fray, magic like “Comin For Ya Head” is born. Yet when Sheek and Ghost get jiggy like it’s 1997 on “Do It Like Us” things fall apart. Overall, Wu-Block is an uneven effort mixing vintage greatness and questionable guest verses (that goes for you, Cappadonna and Inspectah Deck). However, there are enough stellar outings from Sheek and Ghost to fill any fan’s fix.

Songs To Bump: “Comin’ For Ya Head,” “You Been Robbed”

Songs To Skip: “Pull The Cars Out,” “Do It Like Us”
