Mitt Romney Had “No Desire” To Be President, Says Tagg Romney

By J. Tinsley / 12.23.12

Seeing as how today is a very, very important NFL Sunday for some of us, I’ll just leave this here. Tagg Romney, Mitt’s son and campaign adviser, on his pop’s Presidential desires:

“He wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve met in my life. He had no desire to…run,” said Tagg, who worked with his mother, Ann, to persuade his father to seek the presidency. “If he could have found someone else to take his place . . . he would have been ecstatic to step aside. He is a very private person who loves his family deeply and wants to be with them, but he has deep faith in God and he loves his country, but he doesn’t love the attention.”

Two quick thoughts on this.

1. It’s great we dodged a bullet putting a guy in office for a job he didn’t want in the first place, but you mean to tell me we missed out on a potential Herman Cain/President Obama three-game, winner-take-all debate because of this? Really? Because the “powers that be” had another agenda (get Barry O out the White House)? I’m so pissed right now I want to cry and start punching the air like Trey in Boyz In The Hood.

2. More importantly, however, in the words of the incomparable Shawn Corey Carter, “This is with whom (some of) you wanted to place your faith?” And in the words of the my favorite drunk uncle, Joe Biden, “Incredible.”
