Typically, tracks reminiscing on how Hip-Hop was better back in the day are a bit corny for my tastes. Yet, the way hasHBrown slaps around superficial talents on his latest release “1994″ had to be echoed.
Aside from reminding you rugrats out there quality comes from the heart and not the pocketbook, the Houston MC/producer’s upscale boom-bap genuinely sounds like a time capsule from an era where samples were prominent and tracks still got cut up on the regular. Plus, the way this student of the game emulates that concept throughout this visual is pretty nifty and ties everything together nicely.
For more of hasH’s warming golden era throwbacks, keep a look out for his upcoming album The Cassette Playa, due out in 2013.
