Nothing in life stays consistent except taxes, death and James Bond flicks. Daniel Craig’s done an awesome job at playing Bond. Spectacular, even. As the timeless brand moves forward, however, J.B. could be taking on a different look in the near future with the newest draft pick potentially slated to be none other than Idris Elba.
Even with Craig expected to be penned for at least two more Bond films, Skyfall co-star Naomie Harris may have let the cat out of the bag. “I didn’t realise that there was this talk and then I did a film with Idris and he said that he met (Bond Producer) Barbara Broccoli and that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond.”
Harris is in the interesting situation of being both Craig and Elba’s co-worker. She’ll be starring alongside the man most famously known as Stringer Bell in the upcoming biopic of Nelson Mandela, Long Walk To Freedom, portraying the iconic political beacon himself.
Pending this goes through, two things are apparent. One, the Bond brand should have no problem continuing to thrive. And two, we’ll have a film couples can mutually agree upon going to see.
