Details are scarce but actor Michael Clarke Duncan passed away Monday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Only 54, the Oscar-nominated actor was reported dead through a statement from his fiancee Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth. Previously, on July 13th, he was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack and remained there since.
After high school, Clarke began his Hollywood career as a bodyguard for several big-name actors including Will Smith and Jamie Foxx, amongst others. He was also hired to be a bodyguard for none other than the Notorious B.I.G., but was reassigned just before the rapper’s murder in 1997. Turning to acting in his 30s, Clarke in several movies through the years such as Daredevil, Armageddon, and most notably The Green Mile, for which he garnered an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor for his portrayal of the mystical character John Coffey.
