Lupe’s extending his perfect field goal percentage and Lasers definitely seems like a distant memory now. His third single for his next album is another social statement and puts him in a zone where he sounds comfortable again. With “Lamborghini Angels,” the Chi-town avenger tackles issues ranging from religious abuse to materialism and his words are likely to pinch a few nerves. But don’t say you weren’t warned, Lu prefaced the record by tweeting, “WARNING: If you are easily offended or religiously sensitive DO NOT listen to #LamborghiniAngels it contains very strong subject matter.”
Lupe’s handily found his groove again and best of all, it looks like Atlantic is no longer meddling with his music. Food and Liquor 2 arrives September 25.
