Chance Fischer – “Pompeii”

By Julie J. / 08.30.12

While Richmond native Chance Fischer preps his debut release of Friends.Romans.Collegemen for this fall, he drops “Pompeii” to stay in the ears of the internet.

Produced by New Yorker Conrizzle, the track includes some choice explosions that mimic the sound of an exploding Mount Vesuvius, but that is not to overshadow Chance’s energetic, lyrical performance about living in the party of the moment with breezies and patreezies. Switching his flow up throughout the song enough to pique the listener’s interest, Chance yet again makes the good impression that he aims for in the chorus.

Also, prayers are extended to the family of Kleph Dollaz who passed away from an apparent heart attack at the age of 39. Kleph was not only a driving force in the career of Chance, but an instrumental and irreplaceable entity in the Virginia music scene. While his start came as part of the group Ill Biskits in the ’90s – and later going on to produce for Talib Kweli, M.O.P., Sean Price and more – Dollaz’s most recent work came last year in the form of Square In The Circle (listen here). R.I.P. to a Virginia institution of musical integrity.
