Nas Feat. Large Professor – “Loco-Motive” (Prod. By No I.D.)

By Samir S. / 07.02.12

With every passing release from Life Is Good, lingering doubts surrounding Nas’s ability to deliver a great album in 2012 are quickly being put to rest. Case in point, “Loco-motive,” the latest drop off the album and another sign that we’re going to get an invigorated Nasir Jones when Life is Good hits stores on July 17th.

Far from just paying lip service to Hip-Hop heads, “Loco-motive” completely embraces the ethos of mid-90s street rap, from Nas’s vividly detailed quotables (“At seventeen I made seventeen thousand livin’ in public housin’”) to No I.D.’s sinister, gritty production. There’s no reinventing the wheel here, just proof that getting back to the basics can often prove to be a winning formula for veteran artists.
