Pusha T Sends Another Diss Towards Drake, Gets Lil Wayne’s Attention

By Samir S. / 05.24.12

Pusha T’s tenure with G.O.O.D. Music has been an uneven one to this point, characterized by flashes of brilliance sprinkled between performances lacking in inspiration. That makes this current run something of a make it or break it moment for the younger Thornton brother, particularly as he attempts to define himself as a solo artist amidst the lead up to the G.O.O.D. compilation album, Cruel Summer.

On his newest high-profile solo effort, “Exodus 23:1″ featuring The-Dream, Pusha T directs his gaze outward in search of something to peak his interest, and caught in the crosshairs yet again seems to be none other than Drake (who’s been a choice target of Pusha for a while now). The track, darkly ominous and sparsely produced, is right in Pusha’s strike zone–and he’s too seething and ferocious with his words to come away from this kind of thing without landing some nice shots–but the song still leaves something to be desired. It’s almost as if the flashier half of the Clipse is trying to recapture the anger that made Hell Hath No Fury so undeniable. It’s just that Drake doesn’t seem to be as contemptible as the suits at Jive.

That’s not to say Drake would be smart to pull another “Stay Schemin.” This isn’t post-Just Wright Common we’re talking about here. Pusha T is coming for Drake’s neck and he isn’t even truly upset yet. And if Pusha is really looking for a spark, perhaps this will help.
