No, this isn’t ESPN attempting to re-create the mystique that was “The Decision.” It’s actually something far greater and a program every person – regardless of sports affinity – should consider viewing. Magic Johnson and ESPN Films are set to air “The Announcement” on Sunday, March 11, at 9 EST. Centering around Magic’s now 20 year old press conference that shocked the world while exposing graphic truths America had yet to embrace, the trailer seen below only increases the anticipation.
I’ll be watching from an educational standpoint seeing as how yours truly was only five at the time. For those old enough to remember what the pulse of basketball, but more so the country, was immediately following the revelation, use this a time machine. Either way, tune in. This has the makings to be something we can all learn from.

i remember watching the actuall announcement at a sports card store and everyone in that place being floored as they watched it. i was a bit young to know what it was at that point in my life. i remember karl malone i think it ws bitching about playing with him in the all star game or some shit.
my teacher was a huge magic johnson fan and the next day at school he was fucked up over it you could tell. he caught it from a prostitute was always my understanding of what happened back then…as i grew older i found out that was rumor and speculation.

Will they discuss how he’s survived sooooooo long while millions continue to die from a disease he contracted years ago?
Will they also bring up how they’ve had a cure for some time now, but actually supplying those in need with it would eliminate jobs for organizations and foundations and professionals working in the HIV/AIDS field?
