Armed with a new track and an accompanying video, Brother Ali returns to action in anticipation of his forthcoming EP The Bite Marked Heart. The 7-song release – which is set to drop on February 13th – will boast production from Jake One and Atmosphere’s ANT and, best of all, it won’t cost you a penny.
The first drop from the project, “Shine On,” finds the Rhymesayers spitter in comfortable territory, complete with melodic raps and a well-written narrative. On the production tip, Jake One proves fully capable of slowing the tempo on his brand of understated, organic soul, while fellow Minnesotan Nikki Jean lends her vocals for the chorus.
Brother Ali is a proven storyteller on the mic, but the visuals for this one – directed by Dave Wilson – are a nice complement to the tale of attraction at the core of the song (it helps when music videos aim for something a little more lofty than capturing a series of performance shots). We’ll let you decide whether Brother Ali’s romantic methods are smooth or a just wee bit on the creepy side.

I believe the appropriate reaction after watching the whole video is “THE F*CK?”
Ol’ weirdo-ass muthaf*kka walkin up to people trying to holla just for the gratification of a positive reaction. this ain’t elementary school, B*ITCH! That chick was BAD! Someone should slap him and the stalker muh-f*kka from his first album. LMAO!
Brother Ali can make some weird love songs, I swear.

Definitely on the creepy side. He looks like he can throw a fireball too
What is the difference in what Brother Ali did in the video and a guy in a club/bar and a guy buying a drink and walking up to a girl to give it to her? He bought the crab cakes gave her water. In the end she was feeling it. I think he turned it down because his plan was blown up, had it worked who knows. Either way i think he played it smooth but could have done a little better.
