The past week has been contentious. Republicans attacked other Republicans for (oddly) being too capitalistic and the Iranian government threatened to block the Straight of Hormuz. However, it was the battle royale between The New York Times’ crossword mastermind, Will Shortz, and blogger Boobs Radley over the perceived meaning of the word “illin’” that sent this week’s heated cultural dialogue into overdrive.
After Shortz used “illin’” in last Saturday’s crossword puzzle to mean “wack,” Radley attacked him for his semantic incorrectness. Not one to be left from the debate, Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert enlisted the services of Beastie Boy Mike D to settle, once and for all, the correct meaning of “illin’.” Watch as one of Hip-Hop’s elder statesmen determines the victor, with sophisticated pipe and tweed overcoat in tow. Now that’s “ill.”

Mike D is a special individual – but reading from autocues is not his forte.
LOL. That was funny. I liked how the crowd got crunk.
When they went to the Dictionary of American Slang, Stupid, Insane… Have both been used as slang terms, normally in a positive manner. I can recall hearing stupid fresh, thats stupid, etc this is just in speech, possibly it was a regional vernacular but I did recall it was on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air… as a pop culture reference. I might be dating my self when recalling these slang phrases but oh well.
Obvious teleprompter is obvious.
lol i can’t get enough of this shit
As a huge Beasties fan i have never seen Mike D this awkward in front of a camera. They shoulda gave him more freedom with the piece, less teleprompter. Still funny though.
