Statik Selektah Feat. Action Bronson, Termanology, Bun B – “Never A Dull Moment” Video

By Samir S. / 12.15.11

Statik Selektah and director Rik Cordero–two guys who won’t ever be associated with grandiosity–come together on the video for Statik’s Population Control posse cut, “Never a Dull Moment”.

As a producer, Statik Selektah is a staunch East-coast traditionalist at heart, but he incorporates enough measured doses of ingenuity to keep things lively. “Never a Dull Moment” is practically impossible to dislike—it’s a particularly musical Statik track built on layered piano loops and understated splashes of brass instrumentation. It takes no pains to fit any of the signature styles of its three guest stars, but ends up complementing them all anyway.

Like Statik, underground rap video staple Cordero has a knack for producing canvasses appropriate for his collaborators. Even something as minor as shooting chef-on-the-side Action Bronson’s part in a kitchen—as he makes references to eating smoked duck—is effective within the professional minimalist style Cordero has established in his work.

The video for “Never a Dull Moment” is hardly a visual feast. It’s more of a vehicle for providing a dope song some extra shine. Pop Control is on iTunes for only $7.99 for a limited time.
