I’m disappointed that I didn’t catch Toro Y Moi perform at this year’s Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati. Actually, scratch that: I’m utterly devastated that I didn’t get to stare in awe, jaw dropped with drool collecting at the corners of my mouth, at the man they call Chazwick shred sweet synthy riffs, as evidenced by Pitchfork TV’s taping of “Light Black.”
The media juggernaut recorded Mr. Bundick and company take on the Underneath The Pine track in a psychedelic-inspired clip. Toro Y Moi charge through rampaging keyboard solos and cymbal waterfalls, as the cut receives a climatic and heady rendition that makes his live performances all the more worthwhile (I’m assuming) to eyeball in concert.
To receive the equally as invigorating studio version, cop Underneath The Pine at Amazon now.
