It was seven years ago this past Sunday, when the world of Wu lost it’s most outspoken member, Ol’ Dirty Bastard. At the time of his death, bouts of public outlandishness had people wondering whether his health was one hundred percent, until finally a lethal drug combination ended the doubt for good. As devastating as the loss was though, the movement behind Dirt McGirt’s music only escalated after his passing.
In an effort to continue spreading the legacy of his fallen comrade to generations still playing catch up, Bobby Digital has unveiled this new video for his ODB tribute, “Gone.” While visually somewhat excessive in the gloom department, the track itself finds RZA reciting a heartfelt 16 for his fallen homie, while James Black, Justin Nozuka and Kobra Khan helm the bulk of the track. It’s not really what you’d expect, but the unexpected tends to occur when unfortunate things happen.
Hey, Dirty…rest in peace, guy.

I got this on mp3 when RZA was dropping it for Wu-Wednesday. Shit is still as powerful as it was when I first got it.
Rest Iin Power ODB. Today’s mathematics still to get that C.R.E.A.M.
Damn, just lost my Uncle last week Tuesday (RIP Uncle Devon). This track is really moving, I’ve been playing it non-stop for a while. RIP to ODB, one of the most creative and original emcees ever. Wu-Tang forever…
