11.28.11 Written by J. Tinsley

The NBA’s return signifies the end of one of the more ugly work stoppages in recent memory and one that appeared to derail the entire season just one week ago. While everything remains “tentative” at the moment, the 2011-2012 season is being rushed to be pieced together in a matter of weeks. This means things will be slightly different this year in comparison to seasons past. Read the rest of this entry »

Michele Bachmann’s Still Disappointed, Fishbone Couldn’t Be Happier

11.28.11 Written by Gotty™

In an interview with KLIF radio in Dallas on Friday, Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann shared that she still wasn’t pleased with NBC’s response to the “Lying Ass Bitch” controversy. The GOP candidate did receive a written apology from a higher-up at NBC – the senior vice president for special programs to be exact – but apparently the atonement wasn’t sufficient in Bachmann’s eyes. “Amen” – Review Of Pusha T’s Fear Of God Part II: Let Us Pray

11.27.11 Written by Greg Whitt

As the irreverent devil on the shoulder of The Clipse, Pusha T’s blizzard cold street narratives always raised susupicions what he would do without his brother Malice present as his conscience. Earlier this year, the world received the younger Thornton’s first missive with his first solo outing, the mixtape Fear Of God. A mix of We Got It For Cheap free-for-alls and more refined attempts at establishing himself as a viable solo entity, the first iteration of Fear Of God was proof that Neighborhood P was not playing and the rest of the world should be afraid. “Let’s Build” – Review Of Statik Selektah’s Population Control

11.27.11 Written by Raj

By dropping a producer album, Lawrence, MA’s DJ Statik Selektah automatically inherited both the advantages and disadvantages of such records. Yes, on one hand they have a whole slew of artists from all walks of life, but they also tend to be unfocused and lack a centralized theme. However, on Population Control, his fourth on the subject, Statik tactfully is able to maximize his sound, while smartly directing the album’s bearings. Read the rest of this entry »

Orisue Holiday 2011 Lookbook

11.27.11 Written by David D.

God is clearly trying to get me to cop some of this Orisue gear.

Just last week, my wife gave me my monthly allowance and I hit up a few local boutiques to scope out some gear. The Orisue wovens caught my eye and I made a mental note that I’d come back and grab some when I wanted make an all-out shopping spree. The very next day, Gotty™ hit me up with Orisue’s Holiday 2011 lookbook, which made me want even more of their gear. Read the rest of this entry »

Chip Tha Ripper Feat. Eric Grant – “Hold Me Down”

11.27.11 Written by J. Tinsley

When a song samples Ice Cube’s “Today Was A Good Day” (which sampled The Isley Brothers “Footsteps In The Dark”) and features Eric Grant of The O’Jays, the result is damn near written in stone. All Chip Tha Ripper had to do was show up. While not topping O’Shea’s timeless ode to the perfect 24 hours, Midwest Chip certainly puts together an entertaining piece that’s worthy enough of a few spins on your iTunes playlist. Mobb Deep – “Dead Man’s Shoes” Video

Good lord Mobb Deep’s “Dead Man’s Shoes” is gruesome, probably unnecessarily so. If you don’t have the stomach for appendages spouting blood, I wouldn’t recommend pressing play.
