As difficult as it is to explain, some songs come along at the right time and speak to you something serious. Alongside frequent fast break partner 9th Wonder, Phonte helps crank my anticipation for Charity Starts At Home up at least three more notches. The semi-soulful, semi-motivational record is an every man approach to the woes of the current state of things. Jobs are hard to come by and it’s not like selling records is guaranteed these days. Tay is just as stressed out with his “9-5″ as you and I are with ours.
Unlike us, however, Tay’s personal insecurities, in the vein of so many other artists, lead to great examples of work. And it’s those personal insecurities that’ll have me supporting buddy come September 27.
