There are two kinds of freestyles: the “freestyle” and the freestyle. The first was made popular when a certain Canadian rapper “spit off the top” of his BlackBerry and second has become a dying art. But yesterday afternoon on the MTV RapFix couch, Oakland’s Mistah F.A.B. – the self-titled freestyle king – effectively crowned himself, in jaw-dropping fashion.

It starts off like any other freestyle, just rhymes about nothing in particular. Then, as if to prove that this wasn’t something rehearsed, Fabby starts to incorporate the set and the people around him into his words. And just to blow the top off, he “conducts” an interview with himself, all in rhyme. Yeah, Styles P was right to play the veteran card and skip his own part because there was nothing he could have done to even hit the halfway point of what F.A.B. did.
