Wonderful. Another memorable summer league game I missed. One of these days somebody’ll pay me to go to stuff like this and pen my thoughts. In a roundabout way, I’ll be the black Bill Simmons. The Melo and Goodman Leagues squared off in Baltimore last night and featured a who’s who of NBA players, including a handful of the world’s best. Kevin Durant’s now legendary-in-progress summer continued as he led the charge for Goodman. Undermanned by the absence of DeMarcus Cousins and Brandon Jennings, K.D. ended up with a ridiculous 59 points, leaving his summer average somewhere north of the 43 points per game plateau.
For as dominate as Durant was, playing alongside guys like Jeff Green, Austin Daye and Jarrett Jack proved too be too much to overcome once you consider the Melo League boasted players like Eric Bledsoe and Josh Selby and headlined by the “big three” of Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and LeBron James. So as the word of mouth goes, LeBron and Durant put on a show the entire night that featured more dunks and fangasms than the OG NBA Jam – although Durant outscored LeBron 59-38 for obvious reasons.
Melo ended up beating their counterparts 149-141. Personally, I would have rather have seen the talent a tad more evenly distributed, but I’m sure by me saying that I’m the pot calling the kettle black given my political affiliations. Give Durant CP3 and imagine how many more fast breaks could have went down in the process. And yes, I mean that sentence for both said game and in the actual NBA. Still, a good time appeared to be had by all that’s really all that matters at the end of the day.
P.S. — Whoever’s throwing these things, anyway a brother can get a press pass to the next one? Nah, I’m serious though.
P.P.S. — Anyone else notice Bron played sans headband? Maybe that tweet was a spiritual awakening of some sort and he’s just going to free bald it moving forward.

………OHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Where the Melo highlights at? Was he the dude holding the camera?
^ there’s a Lala joke in there somewhere.
Maybe he held the camera while Lala held his balls in her change purse
Man, these summer league games have been great. The NBA may not recognize it, but it helps them a whole hell of a lot.
Melo got a little chubby. Good thing the season won’t start on time.
damn, KD was shittin on bron bron.
Great game by all! Wish I could have made it up the 95 to see this. Also the 8′s Lebron had on are fire!!!
someone should splice all of KD’s highlights this summer, chain Russell Westbrook to a chair, tape his eyes open, and force him to watch until the lockout’s over. all the offseason training that knucklehead needs.
this is why the NBA lockout don’t really bother people, we still get to see our favorite ballers kill it. in more entertaining fashion than the NBA to boot
reminds me of the old aba games lol pure entertainment and you get to see the players express personality and have fun
This shit is crazy.
