Not too many months pass by where Lil Wayne and Cash Money don’t face multi-million dollar legal action against them. While they passed through July unscathed, August 1st arrived and Weezy and CMR were hit with a $15 million lawsuit for claims they stole the hit record “Bedrock.”
According to All Hip-Hop, a lawsuit was filed by Georgia-based Done Deal Enterprises accusing Lil Wayne, Young Money Records and Cash Money Records of stealing parts of “Bedrock,” which they claim to have copyrighted. Done Deal is seeking $15 million in damages and Lil Wayne has been ordered to appear in court on October 12 to face the claims.
While the industry may not be lucrative as it once was, aspiring rappers and producers seem to have found a new way to a payday: give a song to Cash Money, let them make it hot, then sue for a pot of gold. Too bad there’s a long line of suitors already in front of them.

Damn Weezy, at least get sued over a GOOD song.
Drake made the right decision in keeping the same producer.
Lil Wayne <3
so in actuality, it’s been in a while since wayne has had any hits that really belonged to him
cant help it……everybody want a piece of him
its got less to do with everyone wanting a piece of him than him being unable to credit people for their work. well, at the end of the day, at least he can show us how to love…
another day another lawsuit….birdman and them doin it big…
Damn, I think I know the dude’s in GA that are filing the claim against him. Dude’s been talking about that for awhile. Didnt think he’d actually go through with it.
Should be interesting to see how that turns out.
ill tell u why it has taken so long, its because for one, they have the laws set up for the average joe not to be able to touch these mega million dollar money machines. Also I think it was alot smarter to wait until the year end charts can give his council a basis for how much should be the settlement. But they never mention the percentage of royalties they will get so it will be alot bigger than 15million! And another thing, I did my research on this one and a rapper named Blue Marley did write Bedrock, and he did it months before they did. So they get what they deserve. Look how they do buisness..i mean come on!!

I found the original “Bedrock” The hook is word for word, a rapper named Blue Marley wrote it, yep it was definitely stolen!! I mean what are the chances, same name, same hook , typical Young Money business!!
All I’m saying is that there are way more obvious rip offs in the game. Look for when wiz khalifa gets sued for black and yellow. All he did was change red to black and a few rhyming words. Otherwise its the same song.
This lawsuit is going to have a rippling effect among Rap Artists who now wonder if those working with them, will sue them later.
Here’s is a very important hint. Divide and Conquer. Don’t do it.
You’ll lose out in the end and it also stifles creativity.
