Google Vs. Apple is the 2011 version of Apple vs. Microsoft. Whether anyone will admit to it or not, the two tech giants are locked in a war of cell phone domination that appears to have no end in sight. In the latest chess move, Google has just acquired Motorola Mobile for a whopping 12.5 billion in cash money. It’s a step that will now give Google control of the development of both hardware and software for it’s line of Droid smartphones, very similar to the way Apple runs the iPhone.
For the average user, this could mean a more streamlined, cleaner interface that the Androids notoriously fall short in. The frequent lags, freezing, and viruses can realistically be put to rest in the coming year as the hardware and software will no longer be made by foreign parties and then patched to work together, but rather designed in conjunction with each other, again à la iPhone.
Your move Apple.

12.5 billion of them thaaangs.
Sheesh.

Damn. Just give me a milli.
ohhhhhhhhh manson i cant wait to see what apple has to say about this. iphone 5 might have time travel capabilities. lol
my gotdamn evo just stopped charging today. had to pay 100$ to replace it. that force close was happening way too much on that phone. im hoping the new one will be better.
do these phones really get viruses though? i seen the anitvirus stuff, but i aint never heard of nobody getting one.
I’m sure that Apple is shaking and quivering “Ohhhh noooo!”. This move by Google will make for some healthy, much needed competition but Apple will most assuredly roll out another killer iPhone to match the soon to be released iOS5.
i think this article misses the point entirely… the biggest threat to android is the current patent war w/ apple… and it isn’t looking good for android on the legal front right now… motorola has a deep patent portfolio… this is the main reason for the buy-out…
What this really means is the Droid is going to be under complete control of Google, who we must remember makes the Nexus, which is considered the best smart phone out right now.
Behind the scenes, all that’s happening is shit is becoming more monopolized. Just like the gaming industry, we’re only gonna have 3 cell phone systems (iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile), 3 carriers (AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon), etc.
