New Jersey Nets’ Deron Williams To Play In Turkey?

By AJ / 07.07.11

While Michael Beasely seems content spending his extended summer vacation taking leisurely joy rides through Minnesotta, New Jersey Nets All-Star Deron Williams appears to be planning something a bit more productive. Per ESPN NBA guru Marc Stein, Williams is planning to take his talents to Turkish basketball club Be?ikta? , Allen Iverson’s former club, if the lockout doesn’t soon correct itself.

D-Will’s time abroad will be limited, but this is still big news. One of the most dependable point guards in the league, his defection doesn’t exactly inspire confidence that the lockout is going to resolve itself soon. It’s smart for players like Kobe and Williams to have plan B’s. They’re sending an effective message to the owners: we don’t need the NBA to get paid to ball. Brace yourselves; it could be a while before the next NBA tip-off.
