There are plenty of winners when Black Milk teams up with Jack White. Since the White Stripes talent reached out to the Album Of The Year provider as a fan looking to collaborate, the young, well-rounded Detroit MC/Producer surely feels a tad humbled upon hearing from a local legend. On the other hand, White brings his rugged rock into unfamiliar, yet prosperous territories. Obviously, the fans win huge when the two 313 talents combine their talents for the greater good. Plus, race relations soar with the White and Black connect. Can it get any better?
An excerpt of the jealousy-inducing back-story is below, which Black gushed about on his blog and also where you can read the story in full.
It’s a pretty crazy feeling when you’re going about your regular, every day routine in the studio and all of sudden you get a phone call that Jack White wants to work with you. The email to my manager came from Jack White himself. My first reaction was one of shock that an artist like him, who most people would categorize as a rock star, would want to work with an independent hip-hop artist. My second reaction was surprise that he even knew I existed, even though we’re from the same city. Of course, my response was “Hell yeah! When and where do I need to be to make this happen?” A few back and forth emails led to my band (keyboardist AB; drummer Daru Jones and bassist Malik Hunter) and I taking a trip to Nashville to record at Jack’s home studio.
The time we spent in Nashville collaborating with Jack White was one of the greatest moments in my music career. It not only inspired me to continue to work hard as a producer, but also confirmed that staying true to my art, without compromise, can manifest into the type of rewards that money can’t buy. If their collective catalogs weren’t enough, check out BM’s bolstering raps and live production on “Brain” and “Royal Mega,” which feature Jack on guitar and drums, respectively. If you feel so inclined, purchase both tracks on iTunes or 7″ vinyl. If you’re really cool, 100 Limited Edition tri-color vinyls will be available at Peoples Records in Detroit this Friday, July 15th.

this is hot. great colabo. that brain track is like rock inspired 70s funk. track on fire.
Saw this a few days ago. Good to see good musicians getting together.
I’ve always heard Jack white hates both rap music and other detroiters. guess he’s changin his tune…
Brain is insane… Like those two are sans it.. Would it be to pushy to ask for a collap EP or LP? It would?….Well I don’t give a fuck! haha!
Regardless of quality, I do wish Jack would have lent his vocals to these. Maybe later, if a true project surfaces.
That’d be cool.
