What I’ll likely most remember Hip-Hop’s summer of 2011 by is the sudden explosion of group projects. Spitta, Wiz and Sean. Jay and Ye. Eminem and Royce. Gucci and Waka. Yet, the one I’ve invested a particular amount of interest in is ‘Lito and Don Trip’s Step Brothers. While I’m not exactly positive on who’s Dale and who’s Brennan, the duo’s chemistry is excruciatingly addictive, evident on the endurance testing “Karate In The Garage” and the blood pressure rising, reflective “Life.” Now comes the true test, to see if the two can keep this up for an entire release.
What would really be dope is if we could somehow get this in Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly’s hands. Think about the exposure that’d bring both artists. At the very least, it’d get them on Jimmy Fallon or Kimmel’s show. I’m probably thinking too far into the future however, but the very first track is called “Boats & Hoes” and I called that two weeks ago. True, they likely recorded it long before I typed it, but I’m on a roll and I’m just trying to see Trip and ‘Lito get to the motherf*ckin’ Catalina Wine Mixer.
