50′s back and forth bickering with Interscope goes public again as he took to Twitter to announce he won’t be dropping his new album but will be dropping a track today at 2PM, one reportedly featuring Dr. Dre.
Did 50 lose confidence in the label or could it be the other way around? So does Ross ultimately win here?
Update: From the above tweet, one would assume one of the cooler heads at Interscope reminded 50 who calls the shots. Boo Boo followed up by saying “I hate when I can’t present my music the way. I feel it should be but f*ck it check out I’m ON IT.” Join the ranks of other artists who have no say in how their music goes, Fif.

Imagine your boss at work repremanding you for not being as productive as you used to be. Would your natural response be to walk up to your friend\coworker and just derail the next big project he’s got….just to get back at your boss?
Fuck no you wouldn’t. Because that doesn’t make ANY sense.
50 is done.
I like this 50. Keep the quality material coming. I don’t see how this could be a ross win when he did absolutely nothing.
So his ability to provide aggressive content that the masses will respond to is diminishing?
Grammar, 50.
I don’t see how this could be a ross win when he did absolutely nothing.
=============
Think of everyone 50 took out previously. Aside from Kanye, where you knew he could withstand 50′s onslaught, think of 50′s last sitting duck target — Ross. Ross fucking held his own and then some, thus taking a WHOLE lot of energy from one of 50′s strengths – his ability to mock other artists into oblivion.
He’s always been a hating ass emotional ass nigga. Came in the game as such and will leave as such.
==================
Yep.
Who’s surprised at 50′s high blood pressuring saltiness? He’s always been a hating ass emotional ass nigga. Came in the game as such and will leave as such.
If it brings a new Dre single, then I would even buy the 50 album. However, hes getting the Ja Rule treatment from interscope because he fell off. No one likes 50′s gimmicks anymore. Grow up
Did 50 lose confidence in the label or could it be the other way around?
——-
I remember around the time of the Massacre release, he and Jimmy having a disagreement about 50 being “overexposed”. 50 said he didn’t believe in that. Then if you remember, he was having issues with Interscope believing he was gonna do numbers back when Curtis was being developed. Kanye West and a last minute “I Get Money” really saved his arse back then. But they seemed to have issues every since GRODT wore off.
50′s gangsta gimmick wore off. He can’t legitimately pull off the drug-dealing gangsta image anymore. Nigga’s a rich and a successful businessman. Wall Street nigga.
Hate to say it, but the only thing that can revive Curtis’ career now is if he gets shot a couple more times.
Think of everyone 50 took out previously. Aside from Kanye, where you knew he could withstand 50?s onslaught, think of 50?s last sitting duck target — Ross. Ross fucking held his own and then some, thus taking a WHOLE lot of energy from one of 50?s strengths – his ability to mock other artists into oblivion.
=======================================================================
I don’t think this can be attributed to Ross in any way, and not because Ricky didn’t hold his own. The quality of 50′s music decreased incredibly from Massacre to Curtis, causing people to tune him out. The quality of Ross music has increased with each album, creating more fans for him. Those two facts are not related in the least, since the 50/Ross thing happened in 2009. Curtis came out in 2007.
I think Game deserves more credit for bursting the 50 Cent bubble than anyone else. When you think about it, his G-Unot thing really put a chink in 50′s armor at the height of his commercial dominance. After that whole thing, G-Unit as a label went into complete disarray. Not to mention it probably yielded Game’s best mixtape material ever.
Ironically, both 50 and Game seem unable to put an album out, and are falling into complete irrelevance. Good music always wins in the end.
True or not
“Industry is shady, it needs to be taken over.”
-HOV
I wouldnt say 50 is taking into irrelevance because hes still one of the most popular rappers in the world. But your right this all stems from game. Everybody hopped on the g-unit band wagon and hating 50 became the cool thing to do.
As for ross holding his own, what did he do exactly? I see it more as people not really caring.
Dunno, 50 just needs to throw some fronts in to get that old “Suuuthern” slur back and rap with some fucking emotion about his life – he gotta care, but not TRY TOO HARD, which IMHO has been his issue since “Curtis”. The reason the old shit is so good (and that GuessWho’sBack/GRODT/MixtapeOnslaught 50 was/is THAT good – yup it still gets regular spins) is because he was spontaneous, true to him and just straight didn’t seem to give 2 fucks bout anyone. I think he needs to get $haMoney back on deck and fuckoff the ‘yes” men that let him put out weak joints where he just sounds like he’s reachin . Maybe he’s just not hubgry enough anymore. Dude fed himself well
and btw fuck Game and his influence…. he can suck a bag of dicks. Dude’s like a CB4 caricature of HIMSELF!
I think 50′s two biggest problems are:
1) Just the over-all decrease in the quality of his music. Massacre to Curtis was a significant step down.
2) Game was shaping up to be a huge star after The Documentary, even if it was only because of 50′s influence. When 50 ousted Game, he screwed over Interscope and Dre in the process. Interscope didn’t put any effort into promoting Curtis because of that. Songs like Ayo Technology, that could have been large hits, didn’t get any promotion. After Curtis underperformed Interscope decided 50′s career was a sinking ship. Self-fulfilling prophecy.
50 needs to do more shit like doing Youtube videos with that little midget dude and trolling Shyne’s conference calls. When he is doing prankster shit like that he is insanely likable and interesting. The whole tough guy/drug dealer thing is not only untrue now, but it’s boring as fuck.
50 is a bully ! dude is mad rich ! crazy mogul ! plus he still hungry !
Ferrari F50 running wild out
Fiddy’s last 3 mixtapes was dope
wait 2PM to see if Fif drops tha ish
Fif ethered his career when he refused to listen to Em and Jimmy when they told him to slow it down and not be so overexposed.
Did 50 lose confidence in the label or could it be the other way around? So does Ross ultimately win here?
——————————————————-
First question could be equally attributed to both sides. 50 hasn’t had a hot album since GRODT, and the label is well aware of this. If it wasn;t for “I Get Money” 50 would be incredibly irrelevant. Nowadays, he’s staying hot solely because of his twitter rants. And Idk if leaking the Dre single is a good move. But idgaf cause Detox ain’t comin out no way.
Second question isn’t really a fair and balanced one. Ross didn’t really throw too many shots 50′s way in the sense that Jayceon did. But musically, Rozay wins. He wins by alot.
50 hasnt been a factor since GRODT
50′s already backed out of his promise to drop Dre’s single.
some of yall niggas are mad stupid tho.
grodt – 10 mil
massacre – 5.5 mil
curtis – 1.3 mil
bisd – 500k
———————————–
those are not the kind of numbers in a career that a record label would lose faith in, especially when they know the kind of international fan base a dude like 50 has. even if he’s not hot over here, there’s plenty of little white kids in Denmark who still buy albums. I think it’s just a matter of label fuckery going on over at interscope.
It was bound to happen, for years they signed every artist imaginable and then congested the fuck outta their schedule. Looking at dre, eminem, game, 50, soulja boy etc. Those are all fairly major artists that would require quite a bit of promo in order to achieve the numbers they want.
and rick ross aint never done shit besides be a fat fuck.
I honestly cant even remember the last time I, or anyone i know, gave a fuck about 50.
the dre track wouldn’t be from detox, I think he means it was going to be on his album
@yaboy thank you. People call bisd a flop, but considering it leaked a month early I see it as a success.
@Type…
But didn’t he have a track with Eminem called Pyscho on his last record?
I’d agree with you if that weren’t the case.
some of yall niggas are mad stupid tho
=====================
Exactly. How the fuck is Ross even a factor? It’s more or less the fans who decided the outcome. People would rather hear an obese ex-parole officer with dope beats and average rhymes than 50. 50 is a hustler/business man so he’ll never be broke, but he has to make some decisions:
1) Get mature with the rhymes because although his street credibility is 100%, people ain’t believing that he “has work in the streets”. He’s too rich for that shit.
2) Fuck rap and focus on his movie/film production career and other business ventures. 50 is an astute business man, look at the Vitamin Water deal.
3) Put on other artists who are younger and hungrier, while focusing on Banks and Yayo.
niggas acting like 50 aint drop 11 hot songs to start the year off tho…
^50…is that you?
some of yall niggas are mad stupid tho.
grodt – 10 mil
massacre – 5.5 mil
curtis – 1.3 mil
bisd – 500k

uhm…do you see the direction those numbers are headed lol? They’re in descending order for a reason dog.
uhm…do you see the direction those numbers are headed lol?
—–
And they are all decreasing around 50% each time. With the climate that we have right now and his current position in it, I would be surprised if he cleared 250k.
And don’t forget, he also has a lot more money put into his projects than the average artist. It ain’t all profit like that.
How does Ross win? He hasn’t even had an album go plat yet.
ACTING successful doesn’t make you successful. I’m not even a 50 cent fan, but that dude will always be richer than rick ross.
gotti your usually a pretty sharp cat but if you cant see how the condition of the music industry is the biggest factor in the decrease of his units pushed i may have to rethink that.
fif sold more copies of his first two albums then every goddamn album album ross ever rapped on combined.
without interscope fif could boss up he needs to get out of that contract.
pronto
uhm…do you see the direction those numbers are headed lol? They’re in descending order for a reason dog.
————————————————————
You do realize that the same thing has happened to everybody else right?
Ross has been more overexposed than 50 since the beef and he’s yet to even win any awards or even do BISD numbers.
Ross ain’t winning, he’s T.O and Ochocino of rap right now.
You do realize that the same thing has happened to everybody else right?
=================
Yes. The point?
Im not a huge Ross fan but I think some of you are in denial.
Yeah, records sales been plummeting for a while
50 is an astute business man, look at the Vitamin Water deal.
——————
This makes me laugh – does anyone seriously believe that 50 Cent was at any point in board meetings thrashing out investment deals with these guys? It’s not so much that he’s an astute businessman so much as he has enough money to hire astute financial investors to do the business deals for him…all he has to do is say ‘yes’.
FWIW I’ve never liked 50 Cent’s music so I’m glad his 15 minutes at the top of the rap tree looks over – MTV moves on to the next flash in the pan plastic gangsta – but the less he raps and the more he acts the fool the more I like him. Musically Ross is sort of winning for now, but what 50 has that Rick Ross completely lacks is personality. So in a couple of years or so when they call time on Rick Ross’s career we’ll see who manages to stay in the public eye…
Im not a huge Ross fan but I think some of you are in denial.
————————————————————————-
ross hasn’t even gone platinum, im not saying anything that has to do with him. your making it seem like 50 is the only one who had a decline and sells, and every album dropped is going platinum.

So you basically agree then? If it’s that easy then why aren’t other rappers, who claim to have tons of $$$ doing it? Whether it’s hiring the right people or doing it himelf, dude is undoubtedly smart. But you would know what went on behind closed doors since you’re an industry expert.
i like ross alot but his and fifs status in the rap game is not in anyways correlated.
they had a breif beef and if were going by entertainment value to evaluate the winner fif won easy.
but i cant front ross turned in a couple heaters…i have no doubt if the climate of the industry was what it was a decade a go ross would be multi plat.
Vitamin Water deals don’t sell records.
Vitamin Water deals don’t sell records.
——————————————-
But it did make money unlike some records.
@beware
yeahhh, you’re right it probably is dre’s since he’s trying to “get back” at interscope lol I forgot about that aspect…should be interesting to see how this pans out
50′s stans going down with the ship. Good to see loyalty still exists in this world.
If you compiled the 10-12 best songs 50′s dropped or had leaked over the past year and a half, you’d have a really good album. Too bad he doesn’t know how to make a good album anymore.
even if he’s not hot over here, there’s plenty of little white kids in Denmark who still buy albums. I think it’s just a matter of label fuckery going on over at interscope.

FOH..Nobody in Europe is checking for 50. You always hear G-unit is doing concerts over here, but their appearance rates are way lower internationally. As far as purchasing hip hop albums, Europe just follows the best selling artists at the moment. I live in France and NOBODY is checking for that fool. A lot of american artists come here to perform and get peanuts, but they put on twitter that theyre “doin it big” out there.
His latest mixtapes were still fire though…
I’m 28, and I’ve been listening to rap since 1995. Hip-Hop fans (like sports) are bandwagoners in general.
50 had his time, DMX had his time, Nelly had his time, Ludacris, etc…
Fans will always look for the new hot sh*t – CurrenSy, K.R.I.T., Kendrick Lamara, etc…
I still enjoy 50′s music. The boy can still spit bars.
As for ross holding his own, what did he do exactly? I see it more as people not really caring.
==========
people not caring was def part of it, but a 50 beef is like quicksand. The more you struggle against it, the worse it gets for you.
You’re right. Ross did nothing. And it worked.
Ross exposed 50 to be nothing more than your obnoxious little cousin. If you ignore him, he’ll go away.
But you would know what went on behind closed doors since you’re an industry expert.

lol
I was just trying to say I don’t think his reputation for being this stone cold business mind is well deserved. I think his financial advisors came up on a good investment at an opportune moment and he was in a position to capitalise on it. If 50′s got such an acute head for business why hasn’t he managed to replicate the Vitamin Water deal? It’s because he was in the right place at the right time paying the right people to do his business for him. These deals come up once in a blue moon and 50 was lucky enough to get on board at the right time. It’s a mixture of luck and judgement but Donald Trump he ain’t.
I was just trying to say I don’t think his reputation for being this stone cold business mind is well deserved.

for real. Jay-Z? That’s a business mind. Dame Dash? That’s a business mind. LeBron James? Business mind. Those men have already and continue to run major companies/brands, while also constantly expanding their ventures, diversifying portfolios and whatnot.
Curtis? That’s right place at the right time (i.e. in the public eye when rap was still profitable) and some luck with a rich beverage company.
And making a bunch of really bad movies doesn’t count as expanding your business.
