Leaving nothing sacred and no copyright left infringed, Ross and Meek turn “Tupac Back” into “Reebok Back,” in what I presume is a ad-in-song for Swizz and his Kamikaze Reebok sneaker. To Reebok and their owner adidas, blatant product endorsement are nothing out of the ordinary but the promo moves just don’t work.

Having a celeb cosign gear is one thing but watch the company you keep and how you present those branding efforts. Ross’ whole style is a blatant copy of a variety of things (See: the real Ross name jack and his previous snafu with Louis Vuitton). To have him remake a song whose recent original already treads a fine line by riding the name of a dead celeb and applying it to a shoe that’s long been considered a ripoff of the Jordan VII…nevermind, far too much irony going on here.

Are the two brands courting consumers who are leaders or followers? And how gullible do they think consumers and music listeners are? 50 and Jay couldn’t resurrect Reebok and I doubt this trio will do much for the company.
