Random Axe may be best known, as Sean Price puts it, for delivering “…aggressive content, no love letter rhymes and raps about chicks. Just a whole lot of druggin’ and thuggin’, that’s it.” But even with Black Milk’s beat knocking and while delivering verses designed to rattle your bones, they take a moment in the video for “Random Call” to show their lighter side. Guilty Simpson, straight-faced, earnestly delivers his verse while playing video games. Black Milk grinds so hard that he can’t take a moment away from making beats to spit.
And Sean P, man, takes it to another level. He rides a Segway. He, I believe, raps while baking a Transformers cake. He jousts. And to top it all off, each man ends up at a mailbox, gets stuffed in the trunk of a car, and is taken to a mysterious studio to, presumably, record this project. Not your average video, to say the least. Todd Angkasuwan’s decision to make each man half-human, half-animated seems curious at first, but works out well in the end.
Random Axe is selling for $1.99 on Amazon, folks. That’s a pretty good deal.

Kind of a cool video. I copped the album yesterday when it was the Amazon special. I like all these guys, especially P, but too much of the album sounds uninspired.
Dope video, album is great.
Cop it!
The video was directed by my homeboy Todd. Known him for the last 15 years.
