In a story nearly four years in the making, the U.S. Patent Office has finally granted Apple the patent on “multi-touch interface technology.” For those of you that don’t speak nerd, that’s touch screens like the one on your iPhone or Android. Sip the Irving/Williams Kool-Aid if you must, but true basketball heads realize that this year’s crop of young ballers likely will go down as one of the worst. The next time anyone will see Buju Banton as a free man will be in the year 2021. Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a U.S. magistrate judge in Tampa, Florida. FX has boasted one of television’s strongest stables of comedy for a minute: It’s Always Sunny In Phildalephia is far and away the funniest show on television, Archer gives it a damn good run for its money and, while I haven’t seen more than an episode or two, everybody in the know seems to be in love with Louie. The network’s latest project, Willfred, appears to fall right in line, potentially one-upping the aforementioned series’ penchant for original, off-beat, oftentimes dark humor. James “Whitey” Bulger, the man who partially inspired Jack Nicholson’s character in the 2006 film The Departed, was captured yesterday, hiding in plain view with his girlfriend in a Santa Monica, CA apartment complex. Of course, Kennedy Rothchild has his “Mind On (His) Money.” The sleeveless harmonizer from Everywhere, USA (according to his Twitter) has named himself after two of the most powerful families in the history of our country and now plans to take over his territory with a destructive genre he calls PunkHop. The spark that kicks off his movement is this paper-influenced single, which finds the Kid CuDi/Afroman combination coaxing over what could’ve been an Everclear instrumental back in 1995. And with those last two sentences, you’re probably extremely skeptical.
But, find solace in the fact the mean-mugging rock-jam has already found a spot on my monthly iPod playlist and is indeed worth pressing play on the accompanying music video. After a somewhat long intro, this unpolished talent with the name everyone knows kicks out his contrasting jam, while taking over a skate park and getting pampered by smoking hot chicks. Pretty cool, without being gaudy.
If this strutting soul known as Rothchild can keep the gusto up on his debut album Everything You Know Is Wrong, maybe he will indeed be right.
