Listen in as Drake drunks dials (or is it “drank dials”) an old flame on his latest offering, “Marvin’s Room.” 40′s melody plays quite lovely but be forewarned that there’s singing and Drizzy bopping overflowing from the track, with a verse tossed in for good measure near the song’s end. I know hearing him croon really tears up most people and, to a degree, I understand. He’s a rapper so maybe he should…rap.
But I’m a-okay with measured doses of both most days. When I’m riding alone in the truck, I sometimes catch myself sing-songing along, which is quite easier to do than trying to mimic average Rapper A doing the rap attack in my ear. I save the multi-syllables and similes for the house and shows. When riding, I’m singing…like Drake.
On the critical side, I have to objectively say “Dreams Money Can Buy” and now “Marvin’s Room” both are going in a direction hardcore hipper-hoppers and original SFG fans bemoaned last time around on Thank Me Later. When Take Care drops on October 24, let’s hope the tune has changed and we’re getting material that’s a little more aggressive a la “I’m On One.”

Hardcore hipper-hoppers won’t every fuck like Drake like that. No matter what. It’s biological. Like Obama campaigning in Texas. You ain’t gettin their love homie. Ever. So why even bother..
This shit right here is Drake’s B&B.
Wasn’t that bad.
Like Obama campaigning in Texas. You ain’t gettin their love homie. Ever. So why even bother..

lol
i’m a softcore hipper-hopper then lol.
I’m not done enjoying this Noah’s “underwater” sound yet!
And Drake’s singing/harmonizing SOUNDS good/easy-to-ear… all said keep em coming!
Karaoke > this tho!
3/5
Karaoke > this tho!

Karaoke was on a whole ‘nother level though, esp the beat and the lyrics. beat had a nice twist to it and the lyrics actually had some sense of depth where you could sense he was talking to a specific chick and not just rapping about chicks.
Yeah, me too. I fuck with Drake’s music. If that makes my opinion less valid, so be it lmao.
I know it’s popular to say hard core hip hoppers don’t like Drake, but it’s more correct to say that people who don’t listen to anything but “Hard core” hip-hop don’t listen to Drake. Hard core hip hoppers listen to all types of hip hop because they ARE hard core about it. THIS goes hard especially if you can relate.
Plus Francis KILLED on the production tip for “Karaoke”
i just don’t believe that nigga be sippin like talkin bout … the fuck outta here
This ain’t bad at all…it just ain’t new. The content is different but the vibe and formula are the same (we’ve heard this sort of vibe from Drake before). With that being said, it’s not a refreshing song but it sticks to the Drake formula some of us have grown to enjoy. Keep doing you Drake! However, switch up them deliveries from time to time. Find new patterns sun.
Oh yeah, most of these so called hard-core niggas are soft inside. Niggas can be white people too. Don’t get it twisted sun.
Hard core hip hoppers listen to all types of hip hop because they ARE hard core about it.
^^ That.
Also, “Fuck that nigga that you love so bad.”
Just saying. We’ve ALL had that moment. What I’ve noticed is the cats that complain about Drake’s style/content are the ones who NEVER have women around them, won’t talk to women, or generally act like ass holes while I TAKE their women. Pretty boy swag.
IMO “dreams money can buy/marvin’s room” just prove that drake is a professional and still getting better at balancing this combination of melody and flow.
and damn the production/engineering on this is vivid. 40 paints with sound. i feel like if you listen closely enough; even without hittin the weed you can hear the gears working as well as the empty spaces in a drunk lone man’s mind, come those wee hours of the night.
i’ll take this all day. whether its from a rapper, a singer, or a young cat who can’t help but be overhyped/hated on its good music.
so long as it’s not wayne singing again…. I can fk w it.
so long as it’s not wayne singing again…. I can fk w it.

LOL I was thinking the same thing!
He’s a rapper so maybe he should…rap.

I’m not really a Drake fan, but I’d have to disagree there. That’s basically saying that he should box himself into one creative space and most artists do not like doing that.
Again, I’m not a Drake fan, but I don’t like the idea of limiting an artist’s creative expression to just one thing (such as only rapping).
@smarter …. “pretty boy swag” ?!?!? that was the most effeminate thing i’ve ever read on TSS but i guess if it gets the bitches then i wont hate on it too much lmmfao…..
@prof. i agree but then again most rappers aren’t actually artist because most aren’t being very creative they use a “formula” i guess with the “club” song the “crunk” song the “feel sorry for me cause im a thug” song the “i made it” song the “i’m gonna make it” song the “posse” song the “radio hit/for the ladies” song etc. lmmfao i respect drake when he works on his own because he is creative, i don’t particularly like his brand of music because i just wont listen to something a teenage girl would adore, but i can’t stand when he’s on the posse cuts he just don’t fit in and kind of borrows from everyone else’s empty subject matter
This isn’t Karaoke, hell it ain’t even Sooner Than Later, but this isn’t that bad.
Yeah, Karaoke has to be Drake’s best R&B song, but this is still a good listen.
IMO, asking a rapper to actually rap isn’t boxing them in. If Drake could really sing, that would be a totally different story. Personally, I think Drake is an above-average rapper and a below-average singer, so he should stick to what he does best. The only song of Drake’s that I’ve liked in which he’s done a significant amount of singing was A Night Off, and I think that had more to do with the beat and Lloyd than anything about Drake. I do think Drake’s a pretty good songwriter though… he just need to get other people to sing them
For example, I have no problem with Andre 3000 or Mos Def singing and rapping cause I think they can do both well
when he does this sing song shit the whole track, he sounds like dwele. anyone remember subject?
Wait….Mos Def can sing but Drake can’t? Lay off the pipe son
OMG i loveeeee this song! i play it like all day! drake out did his self <3 it
This dude is a feminine Jay-z. Insincere as hell, but sheep eat it up.
dreams money can buy was a much more enjoyable track. i mean, he actually laid some bars down. 40′s production is great as usual, but the all-singing tracks usually don’t get too much replay from me unless i’m mingling with females.
