It won’t be long now. True, there is still plenty of intangibles, press spots, leaks, plugs and all the other rigmarole associated with a 2011 album releases lying ahead. Yet, J. Cole was at least able to get one monkey off his back.
His Roc Nation/Sony Music debut finally has a concrete release date.
The Roc Boy apparently got the green light to tweet his own press release and patient fans will take pleasure in welcoming in the fall solstice this year. The road to this point has been paramount and damn near exhausting at the same time. From being spotlighted on The Blueprint 3, medaling in the mixtape circuit for 2009 and 2010, and covering XXL, Vibe and The Source magazines, there pretty much hasn’t been a facet of his career that hasn’t been investigated. Hell, this very site has interviewed the man on multiple angles to where we too had to sit back and wait on the next step.
The powers that be are now in agreeance to get the cogs in the machine churning on the same sequencing. And with great power comes great responsibility and accountability. The fans will demand a classic. The radio will request some hits. Hip-Hop will expect a new superstar to come out of the gate. Jermaine Cole is currently taking all of this in on the sideline.
