Herschel Supply’s bags have become my go-to travel companions. Aside from the Novel duffle,
I’ve recently adopted both the Study laptop bag and Village backpack for everyday use as well. Initially, I was drawn into the brand’s products due to the simple sense of style highlighted by the signature mini-candy stripe lining, the clean fabrics and attention to smaller details, like the felt-lined glasses stowaway pouch and extra padding on the Village bag. They look cool, eschewing the typical college feel of other bags without costing a grip.

Yet, we all know all beauty is lost if they can’t hold up to the rigors of real life, so I started traveling with them as a pseudo case study. Stuffing them in the overhead compartment on flights. Checking them along with other luggage, advising the baggage claim people to “do me a favor and toss this one around carelessly” (yes, it baffled them). Doing daily trips where each was tossed around the truck while hosting my camera, additional lenses, laptop and other cherished tools of the trade. I’ve pretty much hoisted and kicked them as much as I reasonably could and every valuable has made it through the tests safely.

And they’ve all held up like champs, combining function and fashion and hereby earning my stamp.
