LeBron who? That fellow never won sh*t for Ohio to really brag about. Make way for Browns running back Peyton Hillis, 2012’s Madden curse victim. Following a highly impressive 1,100 yard campaign in which he had virtually no supporting cast (sound familiar?), the young fullback-turned-halfback exploded his way into becoming this year’s face of Madden NFL ’12, gathering more fan-votes than the assumed favorite, Michael Vick.
My first reaction to hearing the news was suspicion that the crazy fanatics over at PETA had some dirty hand in this because as far as they’re concerned, Michael Vick on the Madden cover would be no different from making dogfighting a mainstream sport. My second reaction was a sigh of relief knowing that #7’s legs will not be broken this year, making him a viable candidate to again lead my fantasy squad to another ring (it’s time for my Three-Peat). Nope, I will not be picking Peyton Hillis this year.
Either way, big ups to the running back because if he stays in Cleveland, this will be the only championship of his career. And here’s to hoping he has some Irish in him because he plays each Ray Lewis and Troy Polamalu twice a year and Lord knows they’ll be coming after him with the Madden devils on their side.
