During the Dipset era, guys wore oversized tees and pants. Phrases like “no homo” and “pause” were commonplace. The Harlem crew lead a fashion trend which fans picked up, turning it into an exaggerated epidemic. Remember when Footlocker stocked sizes 4x shirts and New Era’s above size 8 were sold alongside pink doo-rags? Yeah, thought so.
Fast forward to 2011, the time where rap fans wear tight Wranglers and snug shirts, yell “swag” and beg their favorite rappers to fornicate with their closest loved ones. And their leader to whom they pray is Lil B.
And at Coachella yesterday, Lil B announced he was going gay.
So what’s the obvious next step for his fans?
They began to embrace the gay.
Now, what should the rest of us do?
Stand around and ignore the existence of the gayness, hoping he goes away like the rest of The Pack? Take it as another calculated marketing ploy? Understand that just maybe B’s got some Eddie Long in him and does indeed play the skin flute? Look at it as comedic jest? Take him at his word that he does indeed love women, gay means “happy” and words “mean nothing”?
But how can we take him at his word if words mean nothing?
Mind manipulation. Attention-whore. New media darling.
I mean, right now, he’s one of the current faces of rap. White media in enamored with him so those rappers who can’t get coverage of their own cosign the f*ckery, hoping to siphon a few of the Based Guy’s followers. Expect a remix with Big Freedia, right alongside the album B’s supposedly doing with Jay Electronica. Maybe they’ll make it a mixtape and let Mister Cee host. With the final destination being irrelevance and Hell, Hip-Hop’s tucked away in the proverbially handbasket attached to the front of Brandon’s bubblegum-colored Schwinn as he pedals downhill.
Homophobic much?
No, I’m not.
Allergic to ignorance masked as artistic intelligence?
Yes, very much.
To his credit, the smartest thing Pretty Brandon stated today via Twitter was his affinity for Theophilus London’s music. I’m with that.
The rest of that sh*t, keep it. It’s all just a smokescreen to cover up the fact his music is buns.
Seen: Prefix

I’ll wait until he’s going to make good music.
wow….just…wow….
Ive ceased to be surprised at what children do these days. *yawn*
Gay means swag.
#gay2themax
Lil B is a marketing genius. He could name this album Mister Cee I aint buying it
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH *runs out of breath* AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! i told you! i told you all the minute that muthafucka called himself a pretty bitch! but nnnnnooooooo everybody was all like “just give him a chance” “he aint that bad u just gotta listen to him” “man that nigga deep”………. FUCK THAT! aint nothin deep about it but lil b’s colon. now everybody gon be runnin round gay like its cool so they can flex like they deep and im just gonna say “fuck it aint nothin i can do to save these dumbasses now” so im just gonna go out and fuck all those unoccupied hoes.
Lol I dont know to take dude seriously. I really dont know.
He can’t rap well. #end
Do the… hommie?
Also when lil b has the best Freshman Class freestyle, you know they picked some winners.
haha…whatever… hopefully this ends up making us all a little less homophobic.
he is AWFUL!!!! I don’t understand why people like he terribly made music. He is doing this to get attention, period. He is the most ignorant rapper other than Souljah Boy, & if you BUY the gahbage, you have lost your mind.
I don’t know the whole background story on this, but I’m guessing the point is that he doesn’t care what people think/say about him? He’s definitely exposing the homophobia of the hip hop scene with that one little title, that’s for sure. As a straight man, it doesn’t bother me if other people are gay. I don’t really know any homosexuals and our lives never intersect so it really doesn’t phase me. Those people that run around going nuts about other gay people – like the people who go crazy because a guy (who may or may not be straight) says “I’m gay” – those are the ones who prob have some skeletons in the closet.
I don’t really know any homosexuals and our lives never intersect so it really doesn’t phase me.
===========
Do you live in an igloo?
I don’t feel like i have to explain why I’m not homophobic, but I’m not.
I just hate seeing rap being played out like a fuckin circus.
“You down wit OPD? Yeah you know B!”
“He’s got bro’s. (he’s got bro’oos). In different area codes, area codes. Bro’os”
^ LMAO
“The Rap Industry” Is Played By The Guy That Isn’t Lil B In This Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ld_WlqB6pM
how dare you de#Base the late great Nate.
I’ll give him props and say that clearly he know’s what he’s doing marketing-wise. The songs he has that aren’t littered with that swag cook trash are actually listenable, and I guarantee he’ll have a bunch of those on the album
However, Gotty summed it up. This is not positive, not artistic, and groundbreaking. Just a nigga tryna cause a rise to get attention
I don’t get what the story is? Why do people care about who this guy messes with. To me all that matters is if he makes good music. The story is, 90% of the time, he doesn’t. In my opinion anyway
This cover for this album could be the most hilarious and disturbing thing the rap game has seen in years.
I would like to know the exact kind of tree that Young Based Nigga smokes…so I can avoid it
they make hat sizes past 8? lol
thastrings APRIL 17, ’11 AT 10:16 PM
haha…whatever… hopefully this ends up making us all a little less homophobic.
—————-
^this.
Gotty, I have been around here a minute and always had much respect for the level of articulation in the commentary surrounding all aspects of hip hop culture you cover here on TSS but this shit kinda didnt sit well with me.
Calling this move by Lil B as playing rap out like a circus definitely has a level of passive aggressive homophobia to it my dude.
tbh when I read the article headline I assumed that you were going to at least respect the man for putting himself in the crossfire of an unwarranted taboo within hip hop.
Lil B is so lame….i don’t see why ppl like him….straight wack
Calling this move by Lil B as playing rap out like a circus definitely has a level of passive aggressive homophobia to it my dude.
===================================
If you are a proponent of social change and acceptance of homosexuals, naming a rap album “I’m gay” doesn’t qualify as shedding light on the issue in my book. He can say what he wants but this reeks of a publicity stunt. I mean, has he ever touched on the subject before in a serious manner? Like, you know, actually speaking out publicly about homophobia.
Qcurious? Queer curious? Gotty is right. It is a circus. A non talented dude saying he wants to do the most controversial thing in Hip Hop is not a circus to you? He can’t rap or make good music, so he’s resorting to the most down low tactics to get people talking about him. Maybe if you weren’t gay or curious about it, you could see it for what it is.
tbh when I read the article headline I assumed that you were going to at least respect the man for putting himself in the crossfire of an unwarranted taboo within hip hop.
——
Yeah but why should he get respect? It’s not about anything more than saying “Hey look at me! I’m CRRRAZY!”. He could also try,”I’m gonna bleach my skin white so I can knock down race barriers”. It’s ALL propaganda.
another ‘W’ for the pussification of rap movement.
Hip-Hop, Rap…whatever you care to define this genre as, was made to reflect the plight of it’s people. The plight, struggle, determination and fight, of us as a people.
Now you can say what you want, but supporting, and buying into this bullshit, isn’t helping this ART FORM of expression at all.
If he was “deep” he wouldn’t have to wrap up this message of “words don’t have power, we give them power” in a cloud of ‘gayness’.
This culture, this art form, well soon be a passing, fleeting thing, the longer we allow it to be whored out.
This retarded shit has to stop.
Blogs have to stop feeding into it.
And start covering those with an actual message.
Remember Malcolm, Martin, Huey P & The Panthers.
They didn’t protest, fight, and die, for us to use our freedom of speech to promate this GAY SHIT!
While the U.S Military bombs African countries (Libiya is in Africa) and the like, we sit debating dumb shit.
Album sales, passing trends, niggas on the down low etc etc.
Wake The Fuck Up!
The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.
How can Lil B be respected when he’s a weak rapper that doesn’t make good music, and is using the “contoversy” of gayness just to promote himself? That doesn’t deserve respect IMO. What deserves respect is if he was actually a dope artist and didn’t have to resort to these means to promote himself.
LMFAO!!!!! @ Cell© “Do the… hommie?”
I’m not a fan so I could careless what he names his album. I just know as a grown man I can only be responsible for my actions. I don’t mind him claiming to be or not be gay. It’s 2011 its about time one of these rappers admits to their homosexuality.
LMFAOOOOO @ ol boy sayin malcolm didn’t die for this gay shit. Malcolm was gay bruh(or bi w/e)
I ain’t sayin shit else bout this. i know how homophobic the peanut gallery is
^^^”Who said a black man in illuminati?/Last time I checked, that was the biggest racist party”
I hope your capslock button breaks. Nobody and the Rockmeans NOOOBODY read that shit
“im just gonna say “fuck it aint nothin i can do to save these dumbasses now” so im just gonna go out and fuck all those unoccupied hoes.”
^
i laughed for a straight 10 minutes at this. well done.
so you’re saying that if kanye, em or jay called their album ‘i’m gay’ you’d be ok with it because they’re not dumbing down the culture?
gotty, i usually like everything you write but this one made me uneasy.
The Black Man has been emasculated period we went from Marvin Gay & Teddy P to Lil Gay niggaz who ain’t feeling the P
Tight jeans
niggaz braggin about fashion Gucci this Prada that
Niggaz gittin head from niggaz talkin bout they aint gay
The black man has been totally defeated
totally redefining the phrase bitch ass nigga
I’m the last of a dying breed…
Lil B Goes Gay
^^^Of course he does
^@Mr. G um im in the active army don’t say military thats the navy thankyou and if you met qaddafi for a day i doubt youd sing the same tune they don’t think like us its like the mob on steroids so don’t preach somn you don’t know cause 90% of people running there mouth about war never been in one they just sit on the side lines thinking somebody else will do it and don’t see the people who fight as human beings with jobs just like you @mr. G
I mean, has he ever touched on the subject before in a serious manner? Like, you know, actually speaking out publicly about homophobia.
======================
No. But many of his more coherent songs have messages about seeing things from an objective point of view, the dangers of non-educated judgment, and “the difference between knowledge and wisdom;” all of which, I believe, are connected to homophobic feelings and behavior or any type of social phobia for real.
@Gotty
You’re usually pretty level-headed and I respect your opinion, but I don’t think anyone, you and myself included, really understands The Based God. Exactly what kind of ignorance is Lil B masking?
He’s a completely contradictory character, which is what makes him so intriguing. This isn’t the first time he’s contrasted the “no-homo” rap persona. He’s long touted himself as a Pretty Bitch, and he’s already got a track titled, “I’m a Fag, I’m a Lesbian.”
I wrote a comment a while back on B, that was forgotten because the “Illusions of Grandeur” post was so old, but I think it’s still got value:
“I love Lil B, the same way I love a mythical person, or a comicbook character. I normally don’t give much credence to NY Times pieces on rap cause they just don’t know what they’re talking about, but there’s one line in their “A Pied Piper of Rap, Followed on Twitter” piece that I think really rings true:
“He refers to himself as the Based God. So do thousands of fans online, who have elevated him to a folk hero of the rap counterculture.”
Obviously, I know he’s just some guy, but he’s done a wonderful job of building a mystique and aura around the mythical personality that is the Based God. I can’t help but smile when people offer up all their bitches, or start cooking. Just try out some Lil B Ad-libs and you’ll enjoy yourself. Woo! Swag! Tiny Pants!
It sounds like I’m describing some spectacle or freak show, but I respect him too much to call it that. He really is a folk hero of a seemingly sincere and weird counter-cultural movement.
I’m not sure how it would be revealed that, I was fooled, because I don’t know if I was. The brilliant part is that you can’t tell if he’s sincere or not. If he’s just being completely sincere and is the weird character that is the Based God – then I am a fan of this brilliantly strange person. If he’s pulling an elaborate prank and creating the Based God persona as a way to gain notoriety before releasing his real music – brilliant. Either way I won’t feel foolish going along for the ride.
Weirdly, he and Steve jobs have implemented similar strategies. Apple just announced their iPad 2, as their next Post-PC device. They didn’t mention how much RAM it had or talk extensively about the technical specs. Instead, they talked about how Apple has moved beyond the PC, they said it’s no longer about the size of your processor or how much RAM you have, it’s about the user experience. They’ve said that none of the tech specs matter anymore in the Post PC “Based” era, so when competitors say anything about how their device has more RAM or a brighter screen, it doesn’t matter. They are now just dating themselves as PC devices, competing with Apple in a way Apple no longer competes. Apple has marked themselves as the future and if you are beating them with tech specs, then you’re just part of the past. You can pick apart Lil B, just like you can pick apart the iPad 2, but if you do you’re just not a part of the Based or Post PC future. Lil B has completely changed the fan or user experience, and the way he competes, nothing else matters. The Engadget piece puts it pretty brilliantly when describing Apple, but if you sub Lil B, it would work just as well:
“Apple is not just eschewing the spec conversation in favor of a different conversation — it’s rendering those former conversations useless. It would be like trying to compare a race car to a deeply satisfying book. In a post-PC world, the experience of the product is central and significant above all else.”
It’s crazy and scary how much I like and respect Lil B, because I can’t exactly say why.
NY Times & Engadget articles:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/27/arts/music/27lil.html
http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/03/editorial-its-apples-post-pc-world-were-all-just-living/ ”
As for his latest move – I don’t know yet. And I don’t think you should either. It’s certainly worth reporting for the discussion, but I think it’ll take a little time to understand it. I read a whole lot of retweets from Lil B fans that were both supportive and frighteningly homophobic. Is it a social experiment? I don’t know, but some of those RTs from LilBTheBasedGod were pretty telling.
/Rant – Sorry
Uhhhh Lil B naming his album Gay doesn’t deface, nor “defeat” the black man. to even suggest that is downplaying men everywhere.
None of you get Lil’ B. I’ll admit I don’t fully understand him, but calling his album I’m Gay is great. No he’s not that great of a rapper, but most of the stuff you guys are listening to is the stuff he does for the fuck of it, and to get attention. Just open your mind and listen to his shit, he’s all about breaking conventions. and fuck homophobia.
“Homies Over Hoes”
- Gangstalicious
Based god is not fucking spider-man or the tooth fairy.
This is fucking ridiculous, I don’t want to blatantly diss him because it’s becoming a popular trend, but he continues to create the type of inexplicable hype that has amassed quite a following. What that reason is I have no fucking clue. The music sucks the ad-libs suck the fucking skillet two step sucks and the fact that you are all gobbling this scat up is the icing on the cake.
Calling the album I’m gay because
*It’s the most controversial shit and words don’t mean shit and people put words into shit to mean shit and words are the tool of the media and the age of information is the start of the end, you can do what you want and* …shut the fuck up with that shit.
You gay? Great.
Mission accomplished, Hype created. Now go put out this secret music you have stashed away that has the real coherent well crafted shit on it.
It wont be hard for you at this point. Hire a ghost writer get some Neptunes and Tyler beats and take some black and white artsy photos of you in some skinny jeans and a shirt that reads *Gayswag*
Y’all will prolly be like damn That’s deep son.
yall “hip-hop crusaders” need to chill. People enjoy his shit, he’s tryna keep himself relevant and make money. If son is gay or if he isn’t gay it has no effect on my opinion of him or his music. I don’t like it personally, but everyone tries to be “purists” and put down a cat who is clearly enjoying himself but we embrace cats who just go out and beef and tear each other’s shit down daily.
If he does do it, publicity stunt or not, he’s got the balls to do something no other rapper (term used loosely) has done. I respect him for that at least.
Yeah everything Seul said? All of that.
Yeah everything Seul said? All of that.
——————————————-
I second that.
Wow, that was a good and funny break.
@Gotty Good write up. I compare peoples admiration of Lil B to that of Jason Pollock. Like “forreal? that shit is art?”
@Conspiracy Theorists If u see niggas bein gay on camera then accuse the media of trying to turn people gay that seems suspect to me like maybe you see gay shit then have gay thoughts? When I see dudes bein gay on tv, its gross, I change the channel w/e. But in the mind of a gay person who wont accept their sexuality their probably thinkin like “THEIR TRYING TO TURN ME GAY!!!” You cant turn gay your already gay, dude.
@Trill LMMFAO!!!
@Young Based God well done you got TSS goin bonkers on a Sunday Evening. Well played indeed
WTF is going on now a days? sigh.
IT’S PLAN AND SIMPLE THAT THERE IS A GAY AGENDA TO WEAKEN THE BLACKMALE AND BLACK COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE WORLD. AND GUESS WHO ARE THEY USING FOR THIS AGENDA?, BLACKMALE FUCK PUPPETS HIPHOP ARTISTS WITH THE BACKING OF THE MEIDA.
WHEN THE PEOPLE QUESTION THIS GAYNESS AND ILLUMINATI FREEMASON,AND GAY RITUALS AND BLOOD RITUALS HIPHOP ARTIST HAVE TO DO TO GET INTO THE FOREVER RICH CLUB, EVERYBODY WANT TO PLAY DUMBASS.
“@Conspiracy Theorists If u see niggas bein gay on camera then accuse the media of trying to turn people gay that seems suspect to me like maybe you see gay shit then have gay thoughts?”
@OLD ENGLISH, ARE YOU A FUCKING PUPPET! BECAUSE IF YOU ARE, JUST SAY SO. GAYNESS IS ALL OVER TV, YOU HAVE SHOWS LIKE GLEE ON TV EVERY FUCKING OTHER DAY, THAT FUCKING THING CALLED LADY GAGA, THAT IS ON EVERY FUCKING CHANNEL, YOU HAVE DOWN LOW DJ’S THAT ARE GETTING TRANNY HEAD IN NEW YORK STREETS. YOU HAVE THAT CARPET MUNCHER ELEN, TALK SHOW. HELL THEY BE HAVING RULE PAUL COMING ON VH1 BEFORE THE LOVE AND HIPHOP SHOW ON VH1.
SO FOR YOUR BITCH ASS TO TRY TO SAY THAT THE MEDIA ISN’T PLAYING A PART IN TRYING TO TURN PEOPLE GAY, IS JUST A BITCH ASS PUPPET STATMENT. AND YES I TRY TO TURN THE FUCKING CHANNEL IT’S EVERYWHERE.
SO EVERYTIME PUPPETS LIKE U KEEP SAYING Conspiracy Theorists DON’T KNOW SHIT, A STORY FALLS OUT OF CORPRATE HIPHOP ASS THAT PROVES DIFFERENT. PROFFESOR GRIFF AND OTHERS BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS SHIT FOR YEARS.
AND IF YOU THINK THAT THE GOVERNMENT WASN’T TRYING TO MAKE A GAY BIOLOGICAL WEAPON THEN YOU NEED TO SAY OUT THE FUCKING CLUBS AND READ SOME FUCKING BOOKS BECAUSE THEY DO HAVE THIS TYPE OF WEAPON AND THEY CONFIRMED FOR YEARS THAT THEY WERE MAKING A GAY BIOLOGICAL WEAPON. HERE’S THE PROOF http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,281217,00.html AND
http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/pentagon_considered_gay_bomb/ WHAT YOU GOT SAY NOW OLD ENGLISH PUPPET?!?!?
AND I LOOK AT THE COOLERS MORE THAN LIL B EVER WOULD!!
WTF gay biological weapons made from what? prince’s blood tipped bullets? Dildo shaped rpg’s and shit cmon man stop it son stop. even if it is for real nobody on tss cares son wrong website check out reddit or 4 chan or some shit like that
On another note that Kanye set on youtube was dope as fuck… but wait it was all geared at making us all Quasi homosexuals
I know the red suit definitely was.
*shrug*
I personally think Lil B’s “music” is garbage. Maybe even dookie. I refuse to refer to him as basedgod because I don’t know what that means and he’s not a God of anything in my eyes. Especially not music.
I understand that some of you like his music and find him “deep” (tee-hee). Enh, to each his own I guess. I’m not a hiphop “purist” who thinks he is ruining the culture. His noise just hurts my ears.
The only thing he’s ever done that I’ve found entertaining was when he got 3-pieced by that young boy.
I’ll give the dude credit for one thing though. He can market himself. If you don’t have any talent, the next best thing to do is create controversy. I don’t care if he’s gay or not. Gay or straight, the talent is what matters and the kid lacks that.
In today’s society everyone wants to be famous. No one wants to be good anymore.
And some of us may want to ease up on the caffeine, conspiracy theories, and CAPS LOCK.
Nah fuck that, that Kanye set at Coachella was the shit. Fuck all this conspiracy. I fuckin hate people that believe everything they see or hear, then try to spread it like its the truth. Do your own research, not just Fox News’ story.
This nigga just said a gay biological weapon. SMMFH…that sly fox done got control over yall conspiracy filled heads.
I just dislike his music. In no way do I think he has any type of talent as far as mcing. I wont listen to bullshit just because I want keep up on a weird guy who does odd things. At the end of the day music is what matters. This irony of liking his music is getting old. Guess I’m just a backpacker purist whose too old to understand but I’m 20 for the record.
Calling this move by Lil B as playing rap out like a circus definitely has a level of passive aggressive homophobia to it my dude.
===================================
If you are a proponent of social change and acceptance of homosexuals, naming a rap album “I’m gay” doesn’t qualify as shedding light on the issue in my book.
===================
^ this. he’s not doing anything to battle homophobia. He’s laughing at it for the attn.
Thats enough gayness for today boys. If you’re good, maybe you can have some more gayness next week.
Now, where is today’s Cooler Chick?
Statements like “You all don’t get it. Lil B doesn’t care what people think about him” befuddle me. Of COURSE he cares what people think about him. That’s why he’s rapping and not doing any other job in America. He, in fact, NEEDS people to like him.
And no, I don’t understand. But I shouldn’t need someone to explain when something is art (“Pay attention, this is art you’re hearing/seeing/experiencing.”) I should just know.
Lil B is kinda like Hip Hop’s David Koresh.
First off, let’s settle the nonsense with a declarative: Lil B is a faggot. And when I say that, I don’t mean he’s gay (Though he full well may be) any more than when I call him an asshole I mean he’s a tight round circle. He’s an ignorance monger. Perhaps worse, he’s a spokesperson of sciolism. I just can’t respect that type of faggotry.
This article was a great write-up with all the responses I expected. I understand we’re entering a new age and all that, but I just don’t get it. I don’t see why we’re entering a world where to show you’re not homophobic you have to be homophilic. Anywhere else it would be ridiculous. “What you mean son?! I’m not arachnophobic! Watch me walk around in a spider suit to prove it.”
What. the. fuck.
Just a few thoughts…
First… If you are affected by the “gay stuff” all over the media and guys being gay publicly and trying to make other males gay because its the cool thing now, then maybe you just havent figured out what direction you want to take your life. I dont understand how you could be angry that “gay” stuff all over, as someone said above… more women for us straight dudes.
Second… Saying that this is a stupid publicity stunt and that Lil B is a crap artist isnt an “old hip hop head” being bitter or just dissing to keep it one way. The majority of people it seems range from indifferent (because hes wack and i just dont care) to actually disliking this guy. Yes there are some folks out there who genuinely like this dude and more power to them. Hip hop is all about personal preference. But when you attack someone who said they didnt like Lil B you are being a hypocrite.
Finally… Seriously Mr. Illuminati? Black Gay Illuminati? Even if it is real… its the effing illuminati, they been around for a minute and they arent going anywhere. Homie, everything you know about the illuminati is one of two things… Lies or shit they let you know. Like I said, its the effing illuminati. They are a secret society for a reason… if they are real.
I understand that some of you like his music and find him “deep” (tee-hee)
=================================
Reading this was great.
another ‘W’ for the pussification of rap movement
——————————————–
thats only if you take Lil B serious as a rapper.
@ Panda
I love the second point, as at 24 I am not an ‘old hip hop head’ by any means. The hypocrisy just speaks to how ‘confused’ B fan’s really are.
Now, where is today’s Cooler Chick?
———————————
Amen.
I’ll drop my $0.02 in real quickly… I have no respect for Lil B as an artist, but I have the utmost respect for him from a marketing respect. He’s got over 60 comments on a legitimately respected hip-hop blog and he has thousands (millions even) of people talking about him. As long as he’s controversial (no matter how idiotically) and in the news he’ll continue to make money. He’s the music version of Charlie Sheen right now.
He could get “#BasedGaySwag” tatted on his chest and still knock down girls, whether he’d rather have his depths plumbed by a Tyler Perry extra or not.
The fact remains that he’s going to be around for the foreseeable future. The beauty of being an individual is that we can just ignore the fuck out of him and spend our time on those worth it (J. Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Freddie Gibbs, etc. etc.)
Finally… @MR. KILL ILLUMINAZI PUPPETS: They shoulda never give you aggins internet. TYPING IN ALL CAPS doesn’t make us read your comments, it serves as a prior warning that everything you type is mentally retarded. Had you made any legitimate points you ruined it by hitting the caps lock button and then referencing Fox News. You fucked up.
I am not reading 67 comments yo. That is exactly his plan. But I will say this… he better be selling out LARGE shows (not just club venues) because dude will not push any major units. And that is simply fact. He can use all of the tactics and trickery in the book of rap… it just ain’t happening.
@LC
“And no, I don’t understand. But I shouldn’t need someone to explain when something is art (‘Pay attention, this is art you’re hearing/seeing/experiencing.’) I should just know.”
Well said.
DMX has said more gay shit than Lil B has in any of his music. LOL top 5 gay shit. Look it up. smh.

Word – some of his shit is hilarious. I would definitely listen to this week Hype Men podcast with Fat Jew, who among other things, is the creator of this website:
http://unintentionalgayraplyrics.tumblr.com/
Dude is “white folks” favorite rapper…lol
I wonder what does Em think about this?
“White media in enamored with him so those rappers who can’t get coverage of their own cosign the f*ckery, hoping to siphon a few of the Based Guy’s followers…the final destination being irrelevance and Hell, Hip-Hop’s tucked away in the proverbially handbasket attached to the front of Brandon’s bubblegum-colored Schwinn as he pedals downhill.”
====================================================
@Gotty
I’m all for a post ripping B as a rapper, because on a technical level, Based God gets wrecked by most weed carriers, but this post screams of hate and scorn. Why choose to dissect B now, following the announcement of his album title? Why hold it against B that he’s been embraced by the “white media?” Your previous posts on Lil B were much more level-headed, acknowledging, how little technical ability he has, while being open to the idea that he has other appeal. But, saying his eventual resting place should be Hell, screams of hatred.
If you want to expose this move, as one that uses the homosexual community and their plight for personal gain, then please do, but this post is purely an emotional response, which doesn’t explain the sudden hatred for Lil B. Despite your claims that you are not homophobic, your post has made it seem that way, because your sudden and unexplained hatred for Lil B has coincided with him naming his Album, “I’m Gay”
It goes like this you really have to have a sense of humor to listen to most of his shit. Butb when he serious he’s actually pretty good. As for im gay he really just says shit to say it, but he gave a decent explanation as to why he named it that. Yaw just been munching on them hator tots. It really aint that much different then nas naming his album nigger.
It really aint that much different then nas naming his album nigger.
=======================================
Fuck this shit. Now I am shocked. Nas and Lil B on the same level, same awareness and responsibility in attempting to speak out on societies ills. Nas actually went to the media and explained in detail why his album was named that and why he wore the T-shirt he did and had good points. I will copy and paste what Lil B said as his reason to naming his album “I’m gay”.
“You could be whatever you want, I don’t give a f-k, I’m gonna do the most controversial thing in hip hop. Ya’ll heard it first… I’ma show you how words don’t mean shit. I’m gonna make a album called “I’m Gay.” I’m gonna tell you why i’m doin it. I love woman, but no matter what you do, you only got one life to live – so be happy…”
If that’s the case name your album “No matter what you do, you only got one life to live, so be happy” not “I’m gay”. Oh right, words dont mean shit… so why are you rapping… a profession where words mean everything. Being a contradiction for the sake of being a contradiction doesnt make you cool. It makes you a teenager.
For the last time. The people who are saying this is some giant awe inspiring move by a rapper to bring light on a situation that needs to be talked about especially in hip hop, are delusional. Based out of their damn minds. I have no problem with homosexuals in anyway, I believe everyone has the right to be themselves without persecution. HOWEVER. Stupid is a fucking choice. A choice that some of you are making at this very moment…
Fuck this, im out. *walks out of room singing tupac’s “fuck the world”.
i think this might be the perfect time for Gangstalicious to drop that clothing line he was talking about on The Boondocks. All the kids are running around yelling SWAG! these days. I heard it roughly 100 times in a 20 minute period last week. Now maybe theyll start yelling FABULOUS! And I leave the country
being a contradiction doesnt make you cool. It makes you a teenager.

that may be the single best line out of 75 comments. Maybe even a while. Pandas I didn’t know you had it in ya. You’ve been holding back.
LMFAO…So far in this comment section, Lil B has been compared to:
Steve Jobs
Jackson Pollack
David Koresh
Charlie Sheen
I think that just proves lil dude is beyond comparison. Trying to predict what publicity stunt the BasedGod is gonna pull next is like trying to convince these internet capslock thugs not to hate gay people and that the illuminati aren’t real.
Besides, we all know B’s really after a particular demographic. He wants that Lady Gaga money.
i wish i had time to read these essay comments…but i’m completely out of school. I still read to achieve knowledge, but damn…yall gotta set some twitter rules in here.
It’s funny sitting here reading all your comments about B. Gotty and Based God know what they’re doing. SImply put if you dont like what he is doing why are you so pressed to put out articles and comment on him? His name stays in your mouth no matter how “WAck” or “Lame” you think he is.All you doing is giving life to something you supposedly hate. And with that being said Let that Boy cook
Kobe Bryant would not approve.
im not even mad about it its making me laugh cause the attention he’s gonna get internet wise and all the people that are gonna try to imitate him… my only role model, my dad, taught me i should never have to pay my role models or anybody i look up to that would be getting pimped lmao
Somebody let a gang of crazy people loose on this thread. That medicine the dr. gave you will help you not say things like these.
homophobic.
Yo Gotty, whoever put up that incredibly hilarious and flamboyant picture of BasedNigga on the top of the website’s home page is the king of all google image searchers.
Wait, this guy is seriously an actual rapper with actual fans who like his music? I honestly thought it was a joke or parody I never heard about. There is officially no hope left for hip-hop music…
when I first heard he was naming his album “I’m gay” I thought: haaa gangstalicious personified. personally i’ve never listened to his music but, pulling a stunt like this makes it seems like he probably can’t make it in the game with skills alone. to each his own but I can’t help but wonder what the gay community thinks of this spectacle called based god.
Just to throw something out: Gay’s definition is technically happy/joyful. Pretty sure it heavy urban usage got the definition of the word appended so it covers homosexuality. I don’t think he named his album with this intention tho.
#ThankYouBasedGod for making yourself the topic of the day.
Lil’B been gay.
Lil B has officially ushered in a new era of B*tchassn*ggadom in hip-hop.
Thou dost protest too much…
Well I haven’t been here in a while. But:
“I’m all for a post ripping B as a rapper, because on a technical level, Based God gets wrecked by most weed carriers, but this post screams of hate and scorn.
Despite your claims that you are not homophobic, your post has made it seem that way, because your sudden and unexplained hatred for Lil B has coincided with him naming his Album, “I’m Gay””
This. This about 100,000 times.
@word is bond
gotty is hating on this because the announcement of his title at Coachella is more effective than any press release imaginable. The fact the title is very controversial and that if you couple that in with B’s “faux” image, it brilliantly focuses all hiphop “media” attention on him.
He’s fucking Weird Al Yankveic or any of the rappers from the boondocks.
it’s kinda funny how something as silly as this still has people eager to prove how enlightened and pure from prejudice they are just cuz of the subject. i mean the crowd laughed when he announced the title. not cuz they’re raging homophobes but because it’s a goofy-ass gimmick. that’s it.
“Being a contradiction for the sake of being a contradiction doesnt make you cool. It makes you a teenager.”
BRAVO!
I think everybody knows this dude has little lyrical ability. The sad thing is in today’s hip hop, it really doesn’t matter. A friend of mine likes Lil B for a certain value and he told me that Lil B is just doing whatever it takes to keep his name in people’s mouth. And hey! its working but as far as respect, he gets none from me. He is gay to me and I don’t mean happy. Plus how can any real man play on the borders of being gay if he really isn’t. This dude is pathetic as his garbage quality music. But he will still make money and be just fine so he figures ya’ll can hate me and call me gay but I will laugh all the way to the bank. I mean I wanna be famous for my music too but I wouldn’t sacrifice my man hood, pride, or respect for it. In one word…GAY.
Isn’t this just what Lil B wants? The controversy and the attention from the blogs and blog viewers? It seems to be working too…
“Homophobic much?
No, I’m not.
Allergic to ignorance masked as artistic intelligence?
Yes, very much. ”
truer words have not been said about lil b
Lil Bitch is a disgrace to Hip Hop. that is all.
