A lot of words describe LeBron James. Businessman (or business, man!) is somewhere near the top.
Basketball star LeBron James is joining forces with renowned hedge-fund manager John Henry and veteran Hollywood producer Tom Werner in a deal that brings together one of the biggest stars in sports and two of the world’s most renowned teams.
The deal between Mr. James and Fenway Sports Group will give Mr. James a minority interest in the soccer club Liverpool, which FSG owns. FSG, which also owns the Boston Red Sox, is partnering with Mr. James’s sports-marketing firm, LRMR Branding & Marketing to become the exclusive world-wide representative for Mr. James.
The deal marks the first time that a professional athlete at the top of his game has taken an ownership interest in a team with the size and reach of Liverpool, which is one of the most popular and powerful sports teams in the world.

Thats cool. Anything that brings more attention to soccer in this country is a positive. He chose the wrong red team though. 18 League titles compared to 19 for the real Red’s after this season.

exaggerate much? Your telling me nobody in the city of manchester supports manchester united? either way, I was joking. he chose a great team to represent and honestly after the last two years of torres I think Liverpool is finally heading in the right direction. Suarez and Carrol BOTH will be more effective than Torres was/is. That being said Man U gets the treble this year after all the “experts” claiming we didnt even have a shot at the EPL title this year (let me dream). Even the double would be an impressive feat all things considered (Rooney completely out of form all year, Valencia hurt all year, Giggs and Scholes and Van Der Sar playing big minutes in their late thirties, and Ferdinand’s on the pitch, off the pitch season)

people are truly over exaggerating this. we will be fine. This whole debt thing is blown out of proportion because the club will actually be penalized and owe more if they pay the debt off early. It cannot be paid off until February 2017. The club has over 100 million pounds cash in the bank and it makes more profit than it pays in interest every year. They Glazers also have an extra 95 million pounds that was supposed to be used to pay off PIK’s but that was paid off with other (admittedly shady) money, leaving the 95 million (more at this point) also available to spend (it does worry me that the Glazers will cut and run with the extra cash though).
As far as the FIFA Fair Play rules, Man U will have little to no problem following them, its clubs like Chelsea and Man City that are going to be handcuffed by it.
So while the Glazers may themselves have financial trouble, the club does not. And while I worry they may take the money and run, the club will be in the clear when the next buyer (most likely the Qatari holding company) comes along with their ridiculous amount of money.
Oh and Manchester United is the definition of “World Famous”. Ask the New York Yankees.

On LeBron’s show this lion’s killer instinct kicked in as this dog ran away and he was about to go eat him… but he didnt because for some reason it was better business to not eat the dog… I dont know if this was on purpose or not but it fits in the whole “business > killer instinct” model that LeBron seems to be following.
