Going out on a limb, I’m going to say 85% of the TSS readers have outright hated on Ja Rule, despite having never owned or heard one of his actual albums. Openly unabashed by the Murder Inc.’s murderous radio rampage during the the turn of the new millennium, I still have a hard time taking this five-foot-nothing 2Pac copy serious. Still, Jeffrey dropped consistent hits for around four years and eventually sold upward of six million albums – a feat unfathomable by today’s standards, so credit is due nonetheless.
Either way, aside from a few news stories and concurring two-year bid, Ja’s once raspy rule has dwindled so far from the spotlight his crossbreed of thug-pop had become merely an afterthought. That is, until the NYC native’s new single for Pain Is Love 2 appeared both out of place and thin air at YN’s place with 200-plus comments. All of which were basically skeptics like myself, who couldn’t help but embrace this seemingly “Real Life Fantasy.”
Obviously curious, I gave into the hype and found 50′s foe had actually done what I once thought unthinkable and delivered a jam doubters can openly rock with the windows down. Reminiscent without resentment, the former superstar unravels over a Queen-sampling 7 Auerelius-production and describes how dreams don’t always end how you pictured – especially when you piss them away over gun charges and easily-paid debts to the IRS.
You still probably won’t see me copping used copies of Venni Vetti Vecci anytime soon, but this definitely a good note to go out on for The Rule.
Ja Rule – “Real Life Fantasy” (Produced By 7 Aurelius)

I always used to think ja rule sounded like he was constipated when he was rapping
I still think 50 should thank Ja for creating a lane for him.
Yea I heard this the other day & it’s a pretty dope track from Ja! Some real ish & I really love the Queen sample from 7 Aurelius who I always thought was a dope but more underrated producer! This really takes me back to that pre-2003 Ja & Murder Inc sound when music was more real & not just a fantasy which is why the title of this fits perfectly! I had a lot of good memories & vibes from music during that era from Ja & the whole Murder Inc to Jay & the ROC, etc. Not to say some of today music isn’t like that but I think it was more so then it’s now although I see a lot of music starting to get towards that again with tracks like this! I’m going reverse your statement to & say though a lot wouldn’t admit they where Ja fans during that time or at 1 point myself included though I would openly admit it unlike most others! 50 got most into being puppets & saying they didn’t or never did when they did to though!
Song isnt bad at all. I’m sure 85% of people were listening to his first album.
I still think 50 should thank Ja for creating a lane for him.

hahahaha
I did like him but I eventually got tired of the thug-pop. “Put It On Me” made me hate him but I eventually started stomaching it.
I can remember the exact moment I turned on Ja Rule, I was a senior in high school and riding back from Cali and a Ja Rule and J.Lo duet came on, or it was our first time hearing Mesmerize with Ashanti and we both looked at each other like “Alright I’m out”
What ever happen to 7 Aurelius though?….
free ja rule!
This is a nice beat. The Queen flip was nice. So much for homophobic hiphop (ha!)
I never bought into the 50-killed-Ja’s-career tho. Diss records can’t kill careers if DJs, radio and consumers are buying your product. I think the industry simply hedged its bets on Ja being too saturated to support and they bailed before the bottom fell out. I mean, when you got 12yro white girls vouching for your rep and J-Lo’s no-sangin-pop-ass as your video CO-d, you know the elevator’s going down.
Fif was almost irrelevant, he just happened to be the next dude up to bat. Fif’s only real role in Ja’s fall was he demanded Ja produce a body count and a rap sheet that matched his bars.
And to that end, I’m cuttin Ja the same amount of slack everyone cut Offisa Ricky. Jeffrey’s never been the mobbed-up serial killer he spit about, but so what. Heat is heat. And this little diddy right here is worth some props.
50 shitted on Ja for being a shirtless nigga who rapped for the bitches. Then 50 promptly became a shirtless nigga who rapped for the bitches.
Kind of like how Goldberg was a bigger, badder Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Its brilliant if you can pull it off. Shit on a nigga style while convincing everyone that you are not doing the exact same thing he was doing.
If I was Ja I’d be suing 50 for swag infringement.
staight up real talk on the paragraph above the song. Ja rule has made his mistakes, but the one thing that I love about this dude is that he’s always stuck with his style and the homie is straight up real. Good track!
Not bad at all… he better than 50′s latest shit
I still think 50 should thank Ja for creating a lane for him.

I wonder if Ja went the Lil Wayne rick ross route and just kept making his music and ignoring 50 how shit would have ended up… This was my Ja Rule shit back in the day, ignore the leather vest…

Love the music forget the haters
I like his music man that’s what’s it all about, people talk about how Ja Rule won’t move any units but it’s not about that, the people always forget what it’s all about, it’s about THE MUSIC, fuck everythin’ else!
I’m looking forward to his Pain Is Love 2 album coz I think it’s gonna pass everyones expectations & plus it will be tha last album of Ja Rule probably coz he is heading to jail for 2 years the day after he drops the album..
June 7th – Pain is Love 2 & May God bless Ja Rule!
Seven really delivered with this beat and Rule executed it well. If this is the calliber of song to expect from Rule’s upcoming projects then, I’ll be very happy to see him come back strong!
okay ja i see you, keep doin ya thing playa. i mess with this song..nice beat
Ja Is Dope!!!Like Always…
Ja goes in on this. I heard Ja was gettin mad buzz for this
Well I for one am coppin the album. Makes me laugh though, it’s like this “writer” is scared to give a compliment. Talking about you can’t take him serious, you never listened to his music when it was on rotation, he’s irrelevant…oh but this song is ill…but I’m not buying his shit.
Lol you can be skeptical all you want homie, how many people have heard of a “Beware” who writes on a rap blog?! Point made.
da lyrics are so deep, chorus is catchy, Rule has another hit on his hands, bring on june 7th – pain is love 2 baby!
man i love that nigger; he never gives up. I’m the kind of guy who don’t give a shit about fame, i just like to listen to good music. that’s why i always love Ja rule.
