XXL’s 2011 Freshman List has received its fair share of groans and moans regarding the chosen artists, yet one name remains undisputed. Kendrick Lamar, ladies and gents, with no frills or gimmicks, a swift reminder of what rap’s supposed to be like.
Here, the great West hope proves his worthiness with one fatal freestyle for the cameras. And as familiar as his style and lyrical approach may seem in the traditional sense of lauded MC’s, the young Comptonite’s definitely different than many in the current crop of artists and that quality is what makes him all the more well-received.

Holy shit, I just shat myself. I still think the OJ Da Juiceman freestyle was the greatest of all time tho. [smokingsection.uproxx.com]
In Dre’s hands, Kendrick could have a better career than Dre’s other “protege” The Game (record sales wise). Clearly he’s vastly more skilled already.
So if I don’t have anything by him…where should I start?
Overly Dedicated its his latest and very dope tape and this was incredible. Cant wait to see what Lil Twist is going to bring for this.

Def check out Kendrick Lamar’s song with Smoke Dza he obliterates it.
“Don’t rest ya case as a gangsta just cause you wrestled ya bitch”
I know exactly the kind of herbs he talkin about with that bar
It’s hilarious that I saw Kendrick Lamar as Jay Rock’s hypeman last year and now Jay Rock will be lucky to end up being his hypeman…

Overly Dedicated.
Jay Rock and JoJo have something in common.

I honestly like The Kendrick Lamar EP more than Overly Dedicated, but you can’t go wrong with either project. Their both free too. Most def one of the most exciting MC’s out. The combo of lyrical ability, unique rhyme patterns, and undeniable content can only attempt to be matched by few.
Real talk nigga…believe it.
thanks for the responses, bout to check them out.
