Jennifer Lopez Feat. Lil Wayne – “I’m Into You”

03.30.11 Written by Gotty™

Big Booty Judy Jenny slides back from the American Idol judge table long enough to collaborate with freed Weezy. Not that I really care for the song or her upcoming album, Love?, but rarely will the opportunity to post a photo of her pass by this e-desk without me seizing it. Read the rest of this entry »

On Futbol, USA Vs. Paraguay & Precipitation

03.30.11 Written by Gotty™

I’ve attended only one soccer match prior to last night’s viewing of USA Vs. Paraguay and the game I did see was composed of 6-8 year-olds in a youth soccer league. Obviously not a very strong comparison point. Still, saying no to comp tickets to check out the second of the two game series seemed dumb and I’m always open to suggestions for things to do. My daughter and her friend in tow, I set off to Nashville’s LP Field, the usual playing field of the Titans taken over on Tuesday night by futbol and its fans. Read the rest of this entry »

Blaqstarr Feat. Talib Kweli – “War Of Roses”

03.30.11 Written by TSSCrew

Words by C. Paicely

Most have only heard the name “Blaqstarr” in association with M.I.A’s last two albums, producing and co-writing a few of the Sri Lankan firecracker’s cuts, but the multifaceted Marylander is branching away from Maya’s musical umbrella, opting to pop out his own material. 1982 Feat. Bun B & Josh Xantus – “Race Against Time”

03.29.11 Written by Beware

Certain artists can pull off being sympathetic, while others cannot. Basically, if you’re literally feeling side effects from said sympathy, it should show in the audio. Otherwise, dedications seem disingenuous, capitalization comes into play and the songs seem forced. That said, it seems the lack of MCs lending their voice to the recent relief efforts to help revitalize Japan might be due to the out of sight, out of mind theory. Here in America, people obviously care, but how personally affected can you be, when you’re a million miles away and your own problems are piling up?

Either way, 80′s babies Termanology and Statik Selektah bring Bun B, singer Josh Xantus and legitimate empathy for those affected by Mother Nature’s unrelenting wrath to their new track “Race Against Time.” Tasteful and informed would be the best way to describe the lyrics, while the beat behind the sentimental song finds Statik adding classy, nightclub keys and a Battlecat-esque bassline to the always-fresh drums from Mary Jane Girls’ “All Night Long,” for a sonic serenade meant to ease everyone affected by the tragedies overseas.

This place ain’t gonna’ last forever ya’ll, so enjoy it while you can.

The Brothers Mario 2: Kong Country

03.29.11 Written by TSSCrew

Words by C. Paicely

If Nintendo and RockStar hit the bar, got trashed and had an illegitimate love child, its name would have been “The Brothers Mario.” Three months ago, that trailer made Mario fans jubilantly jizz themselves, and now The Game Station has presented us with a faux-sequel to the game of our dreams. DJ Quik x LA Leakers – The Audio Biography Of David Mixtape

03.29.11 Written by TC

A good preparatory project allows the main event to built up with anticipation and promise. If you’re a DJ Q-U-I-K fan and have been patiently waiting hand and foot of the release of his eight LP, The Book Of David, the LA Leakers have compiled something great to serve as a precursor. Combining some of the best cuts from favorites such as Safe + Sound, Under The Influence and Way 2 Fonky, those well-versed in the grooves of Quik can strut down memory lane while newcomers can smack themselves back into reality with his older classics. David Dallas Feat. Freddie Gibbs – “Caught In A Daze” Video

03.29.11 Written by TC

Take a little bit of gangsta and gleam, poise and polish, and your mixture might just resemble the unconventional pairing of David “Best Rapper In New Zealand” Dallas and Freddie “Best Rapper In Gary, Indiana” Gibbs. With their esteemed demographics represented in every ounce of lyricism they possess, the phrase “Caught In A Daze” takes on a new meaning aside from the obvious wacky tobacky-induced euphoria. PlayStation x Nike Zoom Huarache Trainer Low “The Show”

While I would have loved to have seen these completed with a navy sole, the Zoom Huarache Trainer Low “The Show” Quickstrike is still very nice. Summer, shorts and Huaraches all work well together. Plus, I love it when the Oregon design gang goes all out on details, even the ones that go unseen when worn such as the insoles. Read the rest of this entry »

Revamp & Release: 7 Potentially Great Black Keys Remixes

03.29.11 Written by Ryan J.

It might be too easy to pigeonhole The Black Keys’ musical identity as a pair of working-class rockers from Akron, Ohio whose distinct blues-rock flavor distinctly outlines their product. Don’t let the obvious influences of blues-rock luminaries such as Muddy Waters fool the ear. Hip-Hop plays just as important a role in the Keys’ tunes as men like Waters. Pac Div – “Anti-Freeze” Video

03.29.11 Written by Raj

Non-stop chatter of a full-scale debut from Pac Div has been around since the trio first burst onto the scene, but all to no avail. And I, for one, would like to clarify that I’m not disappointed in the slightest. The trio’s holding their weight in musical gold with a satisfying, unofficial discography composed of various mixtapes alongside the Pac Div EP. At this stage in the game, an official LP is just a formality. Read the rest of this entry »

Fly.Union – “Feels Good” Video

03.29.11 Written by Gotty™

Instead of attempting to be complex, Fly.U’s lazily simple mission statement on “Feels Good” goes “Make some music, make some money, find some models for wives,” all the while keeping it hammock-cool in the process and marking another fine attempt by the group to sneak their way into listener’s consciousness. The track comes from the Ohio group’s Value Pack 6 and will be featured on their The Greater Than Club album. Read the rest of this entry »

Tyga Feat. Adele – “Reminded”

03.29.11 Written by Beware

One of the albums I plan on copping tomorrow is Adele’s 21. Unfamiliar with her tunes until recently, I’m actually purchasing it off strictly word of mouth, which is rare. One artist seemingly aware of this UK songstress and her sophomore release is Tyga, who reiterates a line from her recent single “Someone Like You” for the latest track from his upcoming mixtape Black Thoughts 2 called “Reminded.” Read the rest of this entry »
