Like clockwork, just when it appears as if Rich Boy has fallen off the face of the map, a new project surfaces putting said thought on the back burner momentarily. Do I expect to see his sophomore LP, Resurrected In Diamonds, this year? Nope, not at all. Do I pray I’m wrong? Yep, definitely, very much so. With his first album still a personal favorite, there’s always that lingering feeling the buzz around Alabama’s own will rise again. His newly liberated mixtape with frequent producer Supa Villain, 12 Diamonds: Cartier Benjamin, looks to plant the seeds of resurgence.

Maybe it will, maybe it won’t, but anytime a handful of new tracks from buddy presents itself for the taking, I’ll act accordingly. This reminds me though, there have been tracks primed with potential that passed as quickly as they came. The record he had with Drake and Lloyd from last year sounded like single material. Then again, “Drop” did too. And his Jim Jonsin and Yelawolf track could have at least got the ball rolling before Tip pulled rank.

Regardless, missed chances are just that. Take what’s here now. Cartier Benjamin’s got 12 lyrical diamonds to floss. For his sake, let’s pray they aren’t cubic zirconia in disguise.
