Like clockwork, just when it appears as if Rich Boy has fallen off the face of the map, a new project surfaces putting said thought on the back burner momentarily. Do I expect to see his sophomore LP, Resurrected In Diamonds, this year? Nope, not at all. Do I pray I’m wrong? Yep, definitely, very much so. With his first album still a personal favorite, there’s always that lingering feeling the buzz around Alabama’s own will rise again. His newly liberated mixtape with frequent producer Supa Villain, 12 Diamonds: Cartier Benjamin, looks to plant the seeds of resurgence.
Maybe it will, maybe it won’t, but anytime a handful of new tracks from buddy presents itself for the taking, I’ll act accordingly. This reminds me though, there have been tracks primed with potential that passed as quickly as they came. The record he had with Drake and Lloyd from last year sounded like single material. Then again, “Drop” did too. And his Jim Jonsin and Yelawolf track could have at least got the ball rolling before Tip pulled rank.
Regardless, missed chances are just that. Take what’s here now. Cartier Benjamin’s got 12 lyrical diamonds to floss. For his sake, let’s pray they aren’t cubic zirconia in disguise.

Remember when Bigger Then The Mayor dropped & everyone thought Rich Boy’s next album was gonna be the shit?
Dude’s been disappointing me every since.
I ain’t got the heart to listen to this tape.
I hate/love how he randomly pops up to release mat’l.
Man, I don’t even think I have Bigger Than The Mayor anymore. I need that back.
Rich Boy’s album still gets occasional play from me. Dude has one of my favourite rap voices I have ever heard.
Any Polow Da Don beats on this joint?
it was shocking how good his album was…
This is a cool tape but it falls short of ‘Kool-Aid, Kush & Convertibles’ IMO.
“Let’s Get This Paper” is still my jam. Don’t know when I’m gonna get around to this tape though.
one of the most underrated rappers in the game
if someone still has a link to bigger than the mayor it would be best to share!!! that mixtape was classic
I do not rally behind many new rappers (he was new at the time)… but this dude was one of them. He was about to be that next crossover Hip-Hop act that actually made listeners crossover to him as opposed to the other way around.
But Rich Boy well… got rich. He is like that person you know who has a natural gift and just rides with that. They may be great off talent alone… but the problem is… that is good enough for them.
He could be so much more man.
Not certain if I will even DL this. Never thought there would be a day when people would pass up free music from good artists. But ummm… my hard drive is getting full lol (and that Lil B did not help in my decision making).
YES!!!
fuck what everyone else is saying… I downloaded this w/o even thinking about it – Rich Boy is dope.

Rich Boy missed the boat imo..even Polow was on twitter the other day wondering wtf happened..
Props JD
And I agree on the general consensus, Rich Boy = Greg Oden
big rich boy fan. bigger than the mayor is a classic tape–one of the past decade’s best, imo.
too bad he never got it together for all those hypothetical albums he was supposed to release.
i’ll give this a few spins, but from the leaks i heard, i’m worried it sounds a bit too cookie cutter. and now it has k.r.i.t. to compete with, so i ain’t holdin my breath.
Lol, I can’t believe people like this guy. He says absolutely nothing in his rhymes
^um, have u heard of this dude named lil wayne?
