Success has an uncanny ability to offer a powerful sense of hindsight. The highs remind you of the lows and fruits make the hustle and grind such a critical aspect to the journey. Whether Sean’s big day actually sticks or not, chances are he has already achieved more than a young man from the inner city of Detroit could have ever imagined. That was the entire purpose behind Finally Famous: The Album’s first single.
Fused in between the fast life of the present day and ancient footage of when it was all so simple, Sean and Chris Brown attempt to bring their lyrics to life with an apparent endless supply of women, parties and bottles. It’s not “24 Hours To Live,” but for what Sean is trying to do, the end product will work. Today also marks his birthday, so the video likely harbors an added significance. And while the following five minutes are not spectacular or groundbreaking, I respect anyone who can transform a dream into a reality. It’s what we’re all trying to do anyway.
Now this? This was dope. The energy damn bleeds through computer speakers so Lord knows how electric the actual performance must have been. Last Sunday at SXSW, illRoots x ScoreMore’s Sunday Swagger showcase saw a who’s who of performances including the likes of Bun B, Pac Div, Kendrick Lamar, Freddie Gibbs, Big Sean and more. During his set, Sean brought out Wiz to perform their collab “Gang Bang” and the entire crowd lost their f*ckin’ minds.

gangbang should’ve been on rolling papers along with half of cabin fever. stupid Atlantic…
I’m not feeling that Big Sean track, can’t actually remember the last track of his I liked. I was actually thinking about the fact that Drake ran with his style and then deaded it was disrespectful considering he (Drake) was dissing people who were biting his style on his So Far So Gone mixtape…somewhat hypocritical.
Wiz = Star Power
As I’ve stated before, Rolling Papers is going to sell well, however, if it doesn’t I’ll kinda feel bad for the kid as he deserves it, I mean he’s got my money already.
While it’s not what I would have wanted to hear I can definitely see the mainstream appeal. So I shall continue listening to Cabin Fever & Kush & OJ with a bit of ‘on my level’.
Could be like a B.O.B scenario in that his album wasn’t what everyone was expecting/wanted??
Cabin Fever definitely had about 6 shoulda-been-on-Rolling Papers tracks…but hey, what can ya do? Its an Atlantic record.
As for Sean, I thought this was a good single choice for him, hopefully he gets a lil more shine off of this one. And hopefully that May 3 date sticks for FF: The Album
Sorry, but this dude is waaay overrated, and all this depth you guys tried, and tried to add to him is not helping. His flow and delivery are annoying and suspect as f***. He’s just another in the bunch of gitwits (as “i’m a Get With such-and-such famous rapper to be seen as legit), also-rans, tag-alongs, and tax write-offs who slipped in at the right time…Travis Porter, Machine Gun Kelly, Smoke DZA…just tons of time wasted, but hey, guess you can’t have all this excellence coming (Jay electronica, jean grae, Random Axe, kendrick, Blu) without some bull to balance it out. Such is life lol.
I can only listen to Big Sean in small doses, he’s kinda dull.
i have been down with Sean since I first head him…..this is underwhelming. it is ok, less likely to turen channel when comes on the radio, but i heard the first 4 bars and pushed stop. i’ve heard this before, “nuthin new, nuthin new, they ain’t saying nuthin new.”- the roots.
Don’t get why people really care where the record lands? Does it really matter anymore if the record is on an LP or a mixtape? It all still gets on blast on your iPod.
He made and LP for some people and a mixtape for others. I can fuck with both
Sidetrack May 3 is coming
I still don’t understand why neither of these guys have this much hype around them…Sean atleast has a LITTLE bit of lyrical content..but Wiz???..GTFOH
