Modesty isn’t a hot commodity in rap. Then again, Kendrick Lamar isn’t your everyday rapper either. A soft glance through KL’s budding catalog finds that one of his standouts is the self-analytical “Vanity Slaves” from his Kendrick Lamar EP. Now with more people than ever taking notice to his talents, a makeover was in order given the fact those same issues still exist. Using Foreign Exchange’s “Daykeeper” merely sweetened the pot.

He actually previewed this new found collaboration with Gucci Mane a few weeks ago for lucky fans and even then the record showed promise. I’m sure some of you will be happy to find out La Flare’s presence on the song is limited to essentially ad-libs while Lamar handles the grunt work of the verses. Pay close attention to what buddy is saying because his confessions will hit home, especially with today marking the start of Black History Month. Introspection combined with self discipline, you say? It’s the type of stuff that’ll having you looking in the mirror trying to uncover your own faults.
