Monta Ellis is a singular talent. His slippery, artful drives, wicked crossover and remarkable touch around the rim make him a joy to watch and the Warriors offense allows him all the freedom to use these gifts he can handle. This year, he’s managed to rack up 25.9 points per game, good for fourth in the league. However, he’s one of the players that flies under the radar in today’s NBA. Perhaps it’s the West Coast time slot or the lack of marketing, but in any case you never hear the man’s name listed among the great players in the game.
So, the game-winner he drained to put the Warriors over the Pacers 110-108 last night is good to see. As the All-Star selection process nears its conclusion, hopefully it could lead to a few more votes going to the Golden State guard, or at the very least, a minute of recognition for his ability. The smooth way which he unleashes a filthy crossover and step-back jumper is definitely on the “imitate-this-on-the-court” level. Imagine if dude suited up for the Knicks? Kids across the country would be practicing their sleepy-eyed swagger.

Cross step pull up. One of my favorite moves as well. Sadly, I have reverted to a pick and pop kinda guy now.
Buzzer beater woulda been nice but can’t complain about a win.
Totally off topic, but this video deserves a post. Gotty, what say you?

Dude is RAW as hell, don’t imagine him on the Knicks, imagine Blake Griffin on the Warriors.
I feel like there are a number of dinosaurs in the league that still get ALL if not MOST of the press…
Full screen, pause at :22… I would so bang the chick in the black shirt next to the little kid in the blue jersey. that is all.
Perhaps it’s the West Coast time slot or the lack of marketing, but in any case you never hear the man’s name listed among the great players in the game.

I feel like its all of the above. Too much east coast bias and nobody cares about the Oakland market. But I also wouldnt consider him elite. He is a damn good player, but he’s not in that upper echelon in my opinion. Also with all these young players being so talented he isnt the story the league wants to push.
LMAO. Man how did you even notice her?
LMAO something is wrong with you
Panda got eagle eyes. Holy shit.
*cough* Jackson, MS STAND UP!!!!! *cough*
lol. I honestly have no idea.
Monta is DOPE! I always stay up late to catch the Golden State or LA Clippers games (FUCK the Lakers!) even though they start at around 10:30 pm, wrapping up at around 1:00 am.
Melo should forget NY and the Nets and seriously consider the Clippers… Mr.GetTheFUCKOutThePaint! + E.Gordon(serious baller)+ , Davis + Kaman/Jordan + BD + Melo would be a serious contender in the coming years. Plus, he goes to NY or BK he’s prahli not gonna make it past the other BIG EAST Teams to get that ring
Monta did it again against the Kings. I was at the game and he had several amazing shots. He’d definitely be considered one of the top 3 off guards if he had a little more depth around him.
I think another reason the league doesn’t promote him much is he is a terrible talker. Sometimes it’s quite cringeworthy. A couple years ago when there was talk he wanted to be traded, he talked to a reporter about it and said something to the effect “I’m a Warriors and I’m always gonna be a Warriors.”
Regardless, I don’t really give a shit what anyone else thinks, I just want him to stay on my team. Not since Iverson has there been someone so spectacular to watch on a night in night out basis. Except, he might be better than Iverson.
FYI, the Warriors offered Monta Ellis to the Knicks when they were doing the David Lee sign and trade.
